Summary

Lead & champions the capability development and deployment continuous improvement to support the GMS Supply Value Proposition. Assures alignment of processes, systems and capabilities to deliver business value. As early adopters in the CI Champion Network, the CI Champion collaborate with local Site Leadership to accelerate the deployment and implementation of capabilities and philosophies at their site, at a functional level, and across the network.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Share local program, ideas, philosophies & projects for replication
  • Visit other sites to learn, share, and replicate good practices. Be a new pair of eyes to critique and assist other sites on their journey
  • Support other sites through the CI Champion Community of Practice
  • Execution of strategic imperatives and annual initiatives aligned with site key results; implementation of Key Performance Indicators to monitor effectiveness of initiatives.
  • Mutually responsible for ensuring Value Streams have resources and skills necessary to drive site key results.
  • Lead & champion the growth and development of Lean/Six Sigma capability by identifying, deploying and establishing the appropriate training & operating mechanisms (e.g. nomination, training, mentoring, and certification) to align projects to site strategy and key results.
  • Coaches process owners and Lean/Six Sigma practitioners
  • Ensuring rigor in project execution, phase requirements and timing to ensure DMAIC methodology is deployed with appropriate rigor and effectiveness.
  • DMAIC training, kaizen and team facilitation.
  • Coaching teams charged with rapid continuous improvement goals.
  • Presenting at company-wide sessions on projects, and effectively multi-tasking and prioritizing projects.
  • Designated as the Continuous Improvement Champion for the site

Qualifications

They have a demonstrated passion for challenging the status quo and relentlessly trying to improve the operation.

Open to doing things differently and have a track record of taking concepts and implementing locally

A natural people person, comfortable networking and connecting people

Strong negotiation, influence, consultation, and facilitation skills.

Superior interpersonal and coaching skills and be motivated and self-directed with a proven record of results.

Advanced PC skills such as MS Office, process mapping software, Minitab, current Good Manufacturing Practices, ISO 9001:2000 experience, Federal Drug Administration experience is a plus.

Demonstrated leadership and mentoring skills. Ability to lead and motivate teams to achieve business goals.

Excellent communication, presentation and facilitation skills. Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.

Must have strong analytical, organizational, project management, and interpersonal skills along with knowledge of manufacturing processes, re-engineering strategies, and continuous improvement activities.

Must be able to train others and work with employees on all levels. Must be able to work extended hours and various shifts

Education and/or experience:

  • Bachelor s degree in Science or Engineering required. MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience on operations.
  • Background in CI (YB, GB) would be advantage but not necessary; green belt or black training / certification a plus.
  • 2+ years of experience desirable in the biotechnology / pharmaceutical industry is preferred.

Physical Demands

Must be able to lift, push, pull and carry up to 10 lbs.

In general, the position requires a combination of sedentary work and walking around observing conditions in the facility.

Working Environment

May occasionally nee to work in controlled environments requiring special gowning. Will be required to follow gowning requirements and wear protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet and body.

No make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish or artificial fingernails may be worn in the manufacturing environment.

Will work in a cold, wet environment

Must be able to work multiple shifts, including weekends.

Must be able to work overtime as required. (only for non-exempt positions)

May be required to work in a confined area.

Some Clean Room and cool/hot storage conditions.
