Global Publications Oncology Summer Internship

POSITION OBJECTIVES:

Takeda's summer internship program blends real-world experience with an extensive overview of the pharmaceutical industry. Knowledgeable mentors will provide guidance as you gain professional hands-on experience. The summer internship program is 12 weeks in length and offers a unique perspective into a world-class pharmaceutical company. Compensation is competitive, and financed temporary housing is available to those who qualify. Our internship program also provides you the opportunity to network with people at Takeda through various planned events and activities.

The Global Publications Oncology team is responsible for managing the development and execution of medical publication strategies for programs that are in phase 1 or higher. This position requires a strong scientific and analytical background, preferably in life sciences, and project management skills. The individual in this role will participate in the development of medical publication deliverables for external audiences, including, but not limited to, manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and oral presentations. The individual in this role will provide medical and scientific review of publications and support the publications process, ensuring compliance with global standards.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Retrieve, analyze, and interpret scientific literature, including congress abstracts and presentations, and articles in scientific journals, to understand the assigned therapeutic area and disease state
  • Understand the various roles, ethical practices, and industry standards involved in the preparation and dissemination of medical publications
  • Support the development of medical publications activities for external audiences, including, but not limited to, manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and oral presentations
  • Critically review medical publications for accuracy and scientific rigor
  • Provide medical and scientific review of Global Medical Affairs Oncology materials to support the medical review process, as needed
  • Partner with internship supervisor to facilitate effective and efficient execution and tracking of company-sponsored publication activities
  • Develop knowledge of other roles and functions within Medical Affairs and other departments
  • In addition, the intern, in consultation with the internship supervisor, will develop and present one structured presentation relevant to Global Publications Oncology

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Education:

  • Must be enrolled in a U.S. accredited university for the semester before and immediately following the internship.
  • Candidate must be pursuing a PharmD, PhD, or MD program
  • Candidate must have completed their P2 year if pursuing PharmD

Other Requirements:

  • Experience in each of the following MS Office applications:
    • MS Outlook Limited experience
    • MS Word Proficient
    • MS Excel Proficient
    • MS PowerPoint Proficient
  • Experience performing searches of medical and scientific literature using PubMed and/or Ovid
  • Knowledge of commonly used study designs used in carrying out clinical and public health research
  • Ability to write clearly, concisely, and objectively to convey medical and scientific concepts

The ideal candidate exhibits strong analytical, problem -solving, and oral and written communication skills he/she also possesses the ability to work well in teams, effectively manage multiple projects, and present ideas clearly and concisely.
