Takeda's summer internship program blends real world experience with an extensive overview of the pharmaceutical industry. Knowledgeable mentors will provide guidance as you gain professional hands on experience. The summer internship program is 12 weeks in length and offers a unique perspective into a world class pharmaceutical company. Compensation is competitive, and financed temporary housing is available to those who qualify. Our internship program also provides you the opportunity to network with people at Takeda through various planned events and activities.
The Outcomes Research and Patient Access Team collaborates with external organizations (e.g., the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy) to lead healthcare innovation, develops novel approaches to demonstrating the value of Takeda products, and delivers this information to payer organizations. In addition to payer and quality focused organizations, the team leads scientific exchange and partnerships with professional societies, patient advocacy organizations, coalitions and alliances to foster collaborative cross-sector, strategic and trusted partnerships that link the demands of the current healthcare environment to Takeda priorities. A summer internship with the OR and PA Team will expose a qualified intern to ground-breaking issues in healthcare reform, rigorous outcomes research and innovative medical education & evidence integration approaches.
Facilitate the collection, assessment and communication of US-focused population health management and outcomes research gathered from scientific exchanges with healthcare providers and payers.
Help prepare for and participate in cross functional external engagement meetings (Medical Office, Government & External Affairs, Corporate Communications etc) to develop shared goals and execute initiatives designed to advance effective patient centered health care in areas of interest to Takeda.
Help prepare for internal meetings (e.g., product strategy,research and educational grant review) by developing scientific documents and strategies.
Assist in the development of medical and scientific materials to be used by the OR and PA Team and other Takeda medical personnel.
Examine components of research literature, including study design, methodology, results, conclusions, and clinical significance, for appropriateness, accuracy, and completeness.
Understand the various roles, processes and industry standards involved in providing health outcomes and value proposition information in the pharmaceutical industry setting.
Develop knowledge of other roles and functions within US Medical Office and other departments within TPI.
Use data driven insights to inform clinical learning and behavior-change strategies for support of or collaboration on interventions designed to help healthcare providers and systems integrate evidence into practice.
In addition, the intern, with consultation with the internship supervisor, will develop one health outcomes project. Project results will be presented orally to Takeda US Medical Office and other relevant personnel.
Develop knowledge of other roles and functions within the US Medical Office and other departments.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS
- Candidates must be enrolled in a U.S. accredited university for the semester before and immediately following the internship.
- Candidate must be pursuing a PharmD, PhD, MPH or MD program
- Candidate must have completed their P2 year if pursuing PharmD
- Must have Proficient skills/knoweldge in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Experience performing searches of medical and scientific literature using PubMed and/or Ovid.
- Knowledge of commonly used study designs used in carrying out clinical and public health research.
Ability to write clearly, concisely, and objectively in order to convey medical and scientific concepts.
Familiarity with behavioral and social science, quality improvement, implementation science, learning theories and methodologies.
The ideal candidate exhibits strong analytical, problem solving, and oral and written communication skills he or she also possesses the ability to works well in teams, effectively manage multiple projects, and present ideas clearly and concisely.
