Seeking a Ph.D.-level (or equivalent) computational scientist to play a key role in developing and implementing the company's core strength in the application of computational analysis of flow cytometry data. The successful candidate must have demonstrated expertise in broad areas of computational analysis of high dimensional systems, machine learning and empirical data analysis. You will be familiar with building and deploying database-driven computational analysis systems that carry out automated high-dimensional data analysis and data mining solutions. Familiarity with flow cytometry data, while not required, will be an advantage.

The position requires demonstrated skills in programming (R, Matlab, Python, Java or other data-centric languages), database design and administration (e.g. MySQL), system configuration and administration (e.g. linux, perl, bash), and web-based application deployment (e.g. apache, tomcat, PHP, Javascript, Ruby/Rails, Grails, etc.). Specific demonstrated knowledge of R/Bioconductor is a very strong plus. You will be a part of a small but growing team of computational scientists, and working with them you will define, articulate and encourage best practices in areas such as software version control (e.g. git, subversion), test and release discipline (unit and integration), software deployment (in a dev/test/prod environment) and documentation. Our compute infrastructure is cloud-based, so familiarity with AWS cloud computing will be helpful.

We seek candidates with excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and who exhibit a balanced mix of the visionary with the practical, and enthusiasm and energy to emphasize whichever is called for at the moment. You will work in a highly collaborative and fun team environment and will interact daily not only with our computational team but also with laboratory staff, marketing and sales, and executive leadership. You may play a significant role in interactions with clients and investors.

Position Requirements

  • Recent Ph.D. or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated experience in methods of empirical modeling and machine learning
  • Skilled in programming using best practices in version control, testing and documentation (especially R)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Aptitude for work in a highly collaborative, interdisciplinary team environment
  • Willingness to learn specific tools of analysis of flow cytometry data
