La Jolla Pharmaceutical Company is a biopharmaceutical company focused on the discovery, development and commercialization of innovative therapies intended to significantly improve outcomes in patients suffering from life-threatening diseases. The company has several product candidates in development including a first in class medication to address an unmet need in the critical care therapeutic space.
Responsibilities
La Jolla plans to build a new commercial organization and launch its first commercial product which provides a clinically unmet need in a disease state with a current mortality rate upwards of 80%. The Critical Care Field Team will represent La Jolla Pharmaceuticals within targeted hospitals and with a focus primarily on the hospital ICU. In this role, you will lead, hire, train, develop and coach Critical Care Specialists. You will foster a supportive and team-oriented working environment to minimizing turnover through retention strategies, engagement and recognition. You will:
  • Develop, implement and execute approved business plans for the region and effectively implement and execute approved marketing plans; review sales data and analysis to respond in a timely manner to local and regional market conditions and drive business results
  • Work collaboratively with Critical Care Specialists in the region, manage customer relationships and implement approved marketing programs/tactics to achieve sales goals
  • Effectively lead assigned team, identify, discuss and report business gaps and foster the development of strong customer relationships
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of the regional business, customers and competition
  • Monitor all field activities within the region and operate appropriately within our compliance guidelines
  • Work with Area Director to implement goals and objectives, and adhere to metrics which measure and support the goals
  • Provide timely performance feedback and foster a collaborative environment that supports open communication within the team
  • Be a role model for the company culture in all that you do

Requirements

Along with being Innovative, independent and a creative thinker with the ability to multi-task in a start-up environment, the ideal candidate has:

  • A Bachelor s Degree
  • 5+ years hospital sales/management experience required , specific experience in Critical Care medicine preferred
  • 2-5 years management experience required
  • Demonstrated understanding of strategy, analytics, and financial management
  • Demonstrated understanding and working knowledge of FDA regulations and approved guidelines for pharmaceutical promotion and adverse event/drug reaction reporting
  • Working knowledge of the targeted geographical area
  • Proven ability to positively impact company culture and demonstrate flexibility in fast paced environment
  • Ability to travel up to 70% including some overnight and weekend commitments as well as possess a valid driver s license to drive to assigned healthcare accounts, unless otherwise specified
  • Residence near a major airport
