OBJECTIVES/PURPOSE

  • Perform advanced credit and collections functions within a team environment.
  • Review and monitor a portfolio of accounts with a consistent approach to ensure compliance to contracts.
  • Assist with minimizing bad debt by identifying trends suggesting declines in financial strength.
  • Resolve disputes, by pulling in cross-functional teams to understand impact of decisions and ensure compliance and consistency of treatment of like customers.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Collect on high dollar or key strategic accounts driving results to achieve or exceed business goals.
  • Take an educated approach to resolve deductions on customer accounts by performing analysis of open items, reviewing the customer contracts, and consulting with the appropriate cross-functional teams to understand business impact.
  • Evaluate account history to act as a key influencer with regard to order releases.
  • Analyze customer accounts to make recommendations pertaining to potential risk.
  • Review contract prior to negotiations with customers to ensure collection activities and customer s performance are aligned with the terms and conditions of the agreement.
  • Identify customer credit lines needing review to proactively minimize impact of order holds for the customer and the team.
  • Act as a mentor for the collections team and assist with any training needs.
  • Initiate and participate in improvements that drive operational excellence.
  • Identify customer trends that may suggest declining financial strength.
  • Support internal and external audits.

EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

  • College degree and 2 years of credit/collections experience OR 7 years of credit/collections experience required.
  • Demonstrated strengths in oral and written communication, organization, problem solving, critical thinking and leadership skills.
  • A desire to continue learning.
  • Works well in a team environment and has the ability to adapt to changes associated with a fluctuating and additional workload.
  • SAP knowledge preferred.
