Primary Duties

The Head of Business Excellence Lexington directs site activities for the Operational Excellence, Project and Portfolio Management, Business Operations and Training teams at the Lexington site. This role will manage personnel in developing site strategy, prioritizing and identifying improvement opportunities, execution of improvement initiatives, development and deployment of site training, and analysis and monitoring of performance metrics. The incumbent will collaborate with the Lexington Leadership Team to set and direct resources to achieve site strategic objectives, including Strategy Deployment and the site Continuous Improvement Master Plan. This role establishes Training and OE strategy, partnering with functional leaders to determine people development and continuous improvement priorities and directing all aspects of the Business Excellence team towards that strategy. This role ensures the Lexington Site achieves compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and regulatory expectations by managing a comprehensive training program and system.

Responsibilities

40% of Time:

  • Lead and coach Business Excellence functions in support of achieving Lexington site objectives:

Operational Excellence

  • Development and deployment of CI/OE Master Plan, training of Six Sigma Blue/Green/Black Belts, coaching and leading Lean and Six Sigma projects.

Business Operations

  • Lead and manage Site Strategy Deployment.
  • Establish and monitor site metrics and KPIs, including reporting and analysis.
  • Site project portfolio prioritization and management, including site PMO.

Training

  • LMS administration and maintenance, training development and delivery.
  • Site strategy to achieve and maintain GMP compliance.
  • Lead comprehensive change management processes and transformation to competency-based training strategy.

40% of Time:

Lexington Site Strategy

  • Set, maintain and monitor progress of Lexington site strategy, including strategy deployment and collaboration with LexLT on capacity/LRP planning and site Continuous Improvement Master Plan.
  • Establish and monitor site KPIs, analyze and deploy resources to improve business performance.
  • Maintain and improve resource development programs, including continuous improvement (e.g. Six Sigma Blue/Green/Black Belts) and GMP training.

20% of Time:

External Collaboration

  • Partner with external functions (e.g. BOLT Business Operations, Global OE, Strategic Programs, Network Study, Global Training) on development, deployment and performance of global initiatives.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • 10+ years of business experience in pharmaceutical and/or biotech industry operations
  • 5 years of management experience in a key management role
  • Experience implementing Lean Six Sigma tools and continuous improvement strategies in a production environment required, biotech/pharmaceutical preferred
  • Bachelor s Degree in business, finance, science, technology or engineering required
  • Industry knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing, quality, operations, cGMP, global regulatory or product development required
  • Master s Degree in Business or Operations Management preferred

  • Owns decision rights to Lexington Site training, OE, PMO and Business Operations processes
  • Apply continuous improvement to all areas of responsibility
