Primary Duties

Provide equipment and inventory management services to the Process Development department. Liaise with supporting departments to maintain equipment and inventory levels to consistent standards. Manages procurement operations of CAPEX and OPEX programs for PDTS. Leads development and implementation of process, system and service level improvements.


  • 25% Manage procurement operations of CAPEX and OPEX programs in SAP, SRM and COUPA. May manage employees in Lab Operations group as needed.
  • 25% Coordinate equipment services including calibration, maintenance, service contract renewal, software and hardware upgrades and validation activities for existing equipment. Maintain equipment database information including updating database when equipment moves, new equipment comes in and equipment is decommissioned or when equipment standards are updated.
  • 20% Process invoices and liaises between lab champions and vendor for consumable and chemical vendor managed inventory program to ensure proper service. Place POs for consumables and chemicals not in the vendor managed inventory management program.
  • 15% Identify opportunities and lead initiatives to collaboratively improve service levels and business processes regarding equipment and inventory management. Lead small to mid size cross functional projects.
  • 10% Lead laboratory renovation and improvement projects for PD by compiling business case, coordinating stakeholders and driving resolution.
  • 5% Support lab safety initiatives

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor s degree required and 10 years experience required or equivalent laboratory/ project management experience required.
  • Project management and/or green belt experience desired.

  • Lead cross functional projects of small to medium size effectively including defining business drivers, business goals, project approach and schedules, leading the execution of the project, managing the project team effectively such that there is good collaboration, escalating appropriate issues as applicable and closing out the project effectively, ensuring stakeholders needs were met.
  • Work with end users and support departments to translate user requirements into equipment support requirements (e.g. service contract terms, calibration tolerances, etc.) and inventory management requirements (e.g. stocking levels, reorder trigger, etc.).
  • Identify non value added activities and identify potential solutions to improve process performance or overall compliance. Lead in developing, implementing, and training users on improved processes or systems.
