As a Director of Education working on the US Hematology team, you will be empowered to lead the Hematology Senior Clinical Specialist and Community Education Teams whose purpose is to educate clinicians and/or community within guidelines, as well as to provide local level insights to help strengthen the development of educational materials to support the franchise portfolio. In this role, you will contribute to Takeda s mission by lead the education teams and provide compliant direction in accordance with patient and health care professional interaction guidelines. A typical day will include:


The Director of Education is a Commercial non-Sales leadership and reports into the Head of Franchise -US Hematology and the individual is expected to be an active member of the Hematology Leadership Teams and help drive the commercial strategy and execution.

As the leader of a complex business organization, the incumbent is responsible for leading and coaching for success.

As a manager of others, Director of Education is not only accountable for his/her own compliance but also for the compliance of all individuals in his/her team. As such, leads the way and leads by example by demonstrating full knowledge and commitment to all applicable policies. Monitors adherence to Takeda policies and guidelines and acts according to established procedures to ensure all issues are addressed and resolved as required.


  • Ensures the education team compliantly meets or exceeds educational program goals.
  • Directs the education team to deliver franchise direction and strategy to educate in accordance with guidelines and policies.
  • Develop a plan for responding to unmet customer educational need and assigns resources in conjunction with franchise leadership for education team.
  • Directs development of strategies and tactics in close collaboration with Marketing, Commercial and Operations through effective analysis of available data and trends all while ensuring alignment with approved objectives.
  • Develop measures and metrics to assess and evaluate team member competency for delivering Takeda resources and programs with impact to the appropriate customers with the appropriate frequency.
  • Ensures the commercial education organization represents Takeda products consistent with compliance guidelines, direction and key marketing strategies & positioning.
  • Represents Takeda as a senior leader in planned and unplanned interactions with customers.
  • Ensures close and appropriate collaboration and coordination among various roles in the franchise such as sales and marketing.
  • Continuously monitors field activities and regularly visits and works with direct reports or other team members, helping to ensure goals and objectives will be met in a customer-focused, compliant, sustained and scalable manner.
  • Motivates teams to excel by leveraging personal strengths and coaching, helping to leverage areas of strength and improving in areas for development.
  • Continuously identifies key talent and oversees a succession planning process for key roles.
  • Motivates the field education organization to excel by leveraging personal strengths and coaching/helping to improve in areas for development.
  • Works closely with Commercial Operations to identify, and to participate in the development of training, tools, data, and other resources to support his/her group in achieving and maintaining optimal performance levels.
  • Ensures that recommendations, communications and decisions are only made in manners consistent with Takeda s values and policies.
  • Acts promptly and decisively to address potential compliance and other concerns in consultation with Manager, Compliance, Legal and/or HR.



  • Bachelors (BA/BS) degree required
  • Minimum of 10 years of management level experience in the pharmaceutical, biologic/biotech, or medical device industries
  • People leadership of first line managers and individual contributors experience required
  • Demonstrated strategic planning skills to identify unique opportunities and adaptability to changing market conditions
  • Proven track record for consistently meeting or exceeding goals and objectives
  • Demonstrated strong collaborative abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, delegate, and motivate a team providing timely feedback.
  • Very strong communication skills Verbal, written and presentation skills


  • MBA or MS (master s degree)
  • Specialty rare disease commercial, cross-functional and/or management experience
  • Experience in clinical education
  • Previous experience working in support functions such as Training, Operations, etc.


Valid driver s license


  • Ability to drive to or fly to various meetings/client sites and to do field visits with team members, attend meetings on a local and national basis, and training.
  • Overnight travel
