OBJECTIVES/PURPOSE:

  • Ensure appropriate quality and timeliness of responses to requests for medical information in North America.
  • Manage medical information providers, and support vendor identification and contracting as required.
  • Develop and implement medical information materials in coordination with Global Medi-cal Teams.
  • Ensure reporting of potential adverse events and product issues to appropriate teams
  • Manage the Medical Information budget for designated region.
  • Track Medical information performance for designated region

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Ensure appropriate, quality and timely responses to Medical information requests.

  • Internally or in collaboration with other regional Medical Information teams and Global Medical Teams, develop and ensure communication of timely, accurate responses to unique and escalated inquiries.
  • Coordinate with Global Medical Teams to define and develop medical information materials (e.g. Standard Response Letters, Frequently Asked Questions).
  • Manage the Global Medical information budget in designated region.
  • Monitor performance against medical information key performance indicators.
  • Manage a team of 9-10 direct reports (medical information managers, specialists, coordinators, etc.)

Manage medical information vendor relationship

  • Ensure contracting and compliant delivery of vendor services, including call center setup and implementation, ongoing training and reporting.
  • Collaborate with Regional team members to define medical information system and vendor requirements.

Implement novel channels for dissemination of medical information

  • Support implementation of novel channels in designated region

EDUCATION, BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

Education and Experience

  • A medical or scientific degree is required with PharmD, PHD, MD preferred
  • 8-10 years of related work experience required
  • >5 years of experience in the bio pharmaceutical industry medical affairs, preferably within a matrix structure is required
  • >3 years of experience within medical information/communications
  • Experience leading teams is required
  • Experience managing vendors and complex projects is required
  • Excellent knowledge of medical information best practices, legal and regulatory requirements, Codes of Practice, Standard Operating Practices and guidelines

Competencies and Skills

  • Focus on accountability and ownership - constantly challenging oneself to take responsibility for continuous performance improvement and operational excellence
  • Good written and verbal communication abilities, including scientific writing
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong scientific acumen
