As a Senior Paralegal working on the US Commercial litigation team, you will be empowered to support the work of the US Commercial litigation team and its stakeholders and, the team's discovery efforts for both litigation and investigations, and a typical day will include:


  • Independent management and coordination of Litigation, Investigation and Compliance discovery and other support activities working closely with an attorney.
  • Communicates with and assists in managing activities of outside Litigation and Compliance counsel and third-party vendors, including eDiscovery providers.
  • Provide high level of service to Legal Department clients on a variety of Litigation, Investigation and Compliance support issues.
  • Manages any contractor support staff for Litigation, Investigations and Compliance.


  • Coordinate e-Discovery process, including conducting implementing preservation of data, custodial interviews, and managing the collection and production of company documents, data and records in connection with internal investigations and in response to civil discovery requests and subpoenas.
  • Make recommendations to attorneys and coordinate with Legal IT on best collection and processing steps for e-Discovery and develop, maintain and update e-Discovery standard operating procedures.
  • Identify company fact witnesses to receive legal holds for anticipated or pending litigation or investigations.
  • Institute legal holds and manage Legal Hold database (LHP), provide training to end users on database, and maintain tracking of acknowledgments for global legal holds and custodians.
  • Assist with responding to subpoenas and provide day-today support for attorneys on litigation and compliance matters.
  • Directly manage any Litigation, Investigation and Compliance support contract staff.
  • Provide training to contract service providers and/or paralegals.
  • Communicate directly with third parties, including outside counsel, vendors and internal business partners, regarding Litigation, Investigation and Compliance support issues.
  • Build and manage strategic relationships with Takeda s internal stakeholders and business partners as well as relevant third-party vendors/customers/business partners.
  • Attends and represents the Legal Department at internal decision-making meetings as assigned by other managers or attorneys, including with Legal IT and at Information Governance Council (IGC).
  • Identifies and escalates issues and risks, current and potential, to supervising attorney and/or Legal Department management.
  • Develops a thorough understanding of and familiarity with the Company s business, its people, products, markets, facilities, customers and competitors.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the Global General Counsel Office as required.
  • Develop and conduct presentations of training materials on relevant trends and laws and on Litigation and Compliance issues.
  • Aid in the development of operational processes to support all Litigation, Investigation and Compliance activities of the Legal Department.
  • Accomplish special projects, research, reports, data and problem analysis as assigned.
  • Additional duties as assigned.



  • A minimum of 6 years of experience strongly preferred in one or more of the following: civil litigation support; e-Discovery; paralegal and/or litigation technology support in a law firm, corporate law department or government agency; contract administration; risk management; other relevant experience


  • B.A., B.S. or Paralegal Certification
  • Pharmaceutical industry experience


Domestic and international travel may be occasionally required, which totals no more than 10% of days worked
