The Product Team Lead is a highly visible matrix leadership role that collaborates across Cell Therapy CMC functions to craft the Product Team strategy and lead all CMC activities for assigned pipeline cell therapy program(s). As the CMC representative on the overall Program Team, this role influences overall program strategy and is accountable to the team and functional stakeholders for the timely, on-budget delivery of all CMC deliverables.

As a member of the Technical Project Management and Manufacturing team, this role also serves a critical function of leading specific platform and technical projects within CMC functions as needed and contributes directly to building and maintaining the project-focused culture of the Cell Therapy team.

Success in this role depends heavily on strong cell therapy product development experience, broad technical understanding of core and extended CMC functions, strategic thinking, keen problem-solving abilities, excellent leadership skills, and a proven ability to influence in a matrix environment.


  • Lead a CMC matrix team to deliver Cell Therapy pipeline and platform projects.
  • Drive strategy development and lead all phase-appropriate CMC activities supporting global regulatory filings.
  • Represent CMC team in technical, program and governance discussions.
  • Escalate issues, risks with recommended mitigation strategies across CMC line functions and per program governance procedures.
  • Work closely with CMC project manager(s) to articulate and communicate, plans and risks to all stakeholders.
  • Maintain broad awareness of global regulations and industry practices for the development of cell therapies spanning phase-appropriate pre-clinical and CMC studies.
  • Develop a culture of transparency, accountability, high cross-functional communication, and timely execution within the project CMC team.
  • Periods of significant travel required depending on specific project needs (up to ~40%).


Education and Experience:

  • PhD in Biological Sciences or related discipline strongly desired
  • 5-10 years of experience in biotech with broad Cell Therapy and CMC subject matter expertise
  • Record of success in CMC development team leadership.
  • Highly developed matrix management skills with demonstrated ability to align, motivate, and empower cross-functional team members.
  • Exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving skills and ability to articulate and drive risk-based decision making.
  • Strong ability to influence senior leadership inside and outside CMC functional space.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Teamwork Ability to work well in a highly cross-functional team environment.
  • Communication - Able to expresses one s self clearly and concisely within team; documents issues and/or concerns concisely; timely and effectively communicates issues to supervisor and team members.
  • Analytical and Problem Solving Skills - Able to troubleshoot critical issues or problems, determine causes and determine and implement solutions.
  • Organization Exercises good time management and prioritization skills and can successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Motivated Self-motivated and willing to accept temporary responsibilities outside of initial job description.
