As a Director, Specialty Pharmacy Programs & Priorities working on the Managed Markets team, you will be empowered to ensure our network is optimized to ensure access for our patients, and a typical day will include:


  • Provide project management expertise, focus and input into channel strategy for promoted brands, pipeline products, & devices
  • Engage with our specialty pharmacy partners while also analyzing optimal network access for our new product launches which includes working with legal to establish contracts and assist with the implementation and integration into our existing specialty pharmacy channel, as appropriate
  • Serve as the lead point of contact for material product initiatives for new indications, device launches, product launches and product-specific initiatives, ensuring successful implementation within specialty pharmacy accounts
  • Provide strategic, technical, process and operational leadership in project management and external operations (partner collaborations) to multiple teams and functions across the Specialty Pharmacy channel
  • Collaborate with other functions within United States Business Unit [USBU] (MACS Directors, Business Unit Leads, Marketing, Finance, Contracts) and within broader Takeda (Global Manufacturing & Supply) to identify synergies and appropriate linkages between SP objectives, partner capabilities and best practice solutions


  • Analyze our existing trade & pharmacy network performance and explore ways to optimize the patient s therapy experience.
  • Monitor specialty pharmacy programs and trends, collaborate with Market Access, Marketing, & Sales to recommend management strategies to drive patient compliance and adherence
  • Responsible for working with the brand leads and managed markets teams on innovative trade & pharmacy distribution models in coordination
  • Evaluate network access for new product launches and existing products as necessary
  • Ongoing evaluation and management of our specialty pharmacy partners within our expanded access partner network
  • Evaluate opportunities to continue to drive business through our trade & specialty pharmacy partners
  • Provide input into current programs and any new product opportunities based on organizational business objectives and brand team goals
  • Oversee material product initiatives including, but not limited to, new indications, device launches, product launches and product-specific initiatives & ensure successful implementation
  • Manage large corporate initiatives such as contract / corporate entity alignment and purchase agreement language harmonization
  • May manage Specialty Pharmacy Accounts
  • Ability to deliver against business-critical timelines and provide frequent status updates to VP, Specialty Pharmacy Accounts & Channel Management as well as members of Specialty Pharmacy Team
  • Work collaboratively Functional Area Leads from Specialty Pharmacy Team, MACS Directors, BU Leads, Marketing, Finance, Contracts and other functions to ensure delivery against projects critical to Takeda s growth in the Specialty Pharmacy channel


  • Bachelor s degree in science or business-related field, background in Pharmacy preferred, RN, PharmD or RPH preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the Branded Pharmaceutical/Biotech Industries with prior experience in Trade Distribution & Patient Services/Specialty Pharmacy, and/or Managed Care required
  • Superior verbal & written communication skills, readily accessible to Managed Markets and cross-functional partners, with prompt follow-up on time-sensitive initiatives
  • Ability to connect analytics with the overarching business questions, and can understand the link between brand strategy and analytic insights
  • Manage ambiguity by questioning data and/or stakeholder for further nuanced information
  • Demonstrated ability to develop new ways of thinking about a problem, in-order to provide an effective solution
  • Demonstrated experience in defending a position when necessary, particularly around forecast assumptions, and is persuasive in negotiations (especially as it relates to senior management)
  • Knowledgeable of managed care, and how it may affect a brand forecast
  • Demonstrates a continuous commitment to the Quality Control process to ensure quality of deliverables meets or exceeds the Commercial teams' standards
  • A proactive self-starter who can lead work independently, with the ability to see the next step and take- action without prompting
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills and independently prioritize own work
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access
  • Excellent collaboration and cross-functional team building skills
  • Excellent project management skills ability to handle a variety of diverse tasks simultaneously while achieving deadlines.
  • Ability to present information in a clear and concise manner at all levels to all levels of leadership
  • Ability to drive decision-making within a cross-functional team structure
  • Ability to develop, articulate and establish processes with cross-functional impact
  • Excellent communication (written & verbal), presentation, interpersonal, negotiation, and computer (MS office Suite) skills
  • Demonstrated ability to build consensus and drive resolution of issues while maintaining positive working relationships across functions
  • Demonstrated leadership skills managing matrix teams, influencing outcomes and key project decisions


  • Ability to travel to various meetings or client sites, including overnight trips
  • Travel requirements estimated between 25-50%
