Here, everyone matters, and you will be a vital contributor to our inspiring, bold mission. As a Global Program Leader working on the Global Program Team (GPT) you will be empowered to lead multiple Global Program Teams (GPTs) for Established Brands, and a typical day will include:


  • Effectively lead a matrixed team of divisional leaders to achieve high levels of performance, facilitating decision-making and ensuring delivery of all GPT and sub-team operational plans and workstreams
  • Lead the Global Program Team in refining and executing the asset strategy (when appropriate) and cross-divisional / functional plans, driven by Local Operating Country (LOC) customers (patient, provider, and payer) and market needs to maximize the value of the asset to Takeda
  • Ensure the inputs of the local operating stakeholders that are selected to serve on the GPT are solicited, discussed, and accounted for during decision-making
  • Engage Regional Leadership to reconcile differing LOC commercial perspectives (where applicable)
  • Provide objective recommendations to the Portfolio Review Committee and/or Takeda Executive Team members and Divisional Heads, leveraging our Patient, Trust, Reputation and Business (PTRB) framework


  • Lead the GPT in setting product strategies, goals, priorities and long-term plans and schedules.
  • Align cross-functional, cross-divisional project goals with Takeda business needs and strategies
  • Lead a matrixed team of cross-functional and pan-geographic stakeholders to achieve high levels of performance by fostering critical thinking and effective decision-making
  • Coordinate with Regions, LOCs and cross-functional business partners to optimize pricing/reimbursement/access status to maximize the value of the product during the product life cycle
  • Ensure alignment of cross-divisional plans (Commercial, Global Manufacturing and Supply Chain, Medical Affairs, and Regulatory), to ensure global regulatory submissions are delivered on time and approvals are achieved on fastest possible timelines at optimal reimbursement to enable successful commercialization
  • Coordinate and drive LCM planning with LOCs selected to serve on the GPT, and divisions (e.g. clinical science, regulatory, medical affairs) to optimize flow of new data and claims that meet customer needs
  • Ensure product formulations meet customer needs across geographies
  • Lead the GPT activities including planning towards milestones, defining clear go/no go decision points, creating scenario plans, and overseeing management of critical path activities
  • Proactively identify issues, resolve conflicts and communicate project-related issues to senior management
  • Respond proactively to the dynamics of a changing competitive environment and advise on adjustments in functional or cross-divisional plans in response to changes in strategic direction
  • Understand differences in practices across LOCs, and seek to lead team to meet local demands while maximizing the value of the asset for Takeda
  • Inspire cross-functional accountability and teamwork
  • Provide matrix management, strategic and tactical leadership to GPT members who are responsible for leading the key deliverables or Divisional sub-teams within individual projects
  • As required, support business development initiatives and collaborate with alliance partners, in additional to representing Takeda on alliance bodies


  • 10+ years experience in the global pharmaceutical or related healthcare industry, with at least five years leading teams and in commercial roles
  • A University degree in business administration or science required; graduate degree preferred
  • Prior experience in commercial strategy with knowledge of drug development process preferred
  • Knowledge of relevant disease areas is preferred
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking, strong analytical skills, creativity and innovative approach to problem solving
  • Ability to build strong cross-functional and cross-regional partnerships and external customer relationships
  • Ability to synthesize complex information and distil critical customer driven insights to develop innovative commercial strategies and operational plans
  • Demonstrated ability for flawless execution an ability to bring strategy and analysis to a practical level, initiate projects and drive to completion
  • Ability to translate scientific data into actionable, business-relevant claims and communications
  • Ability to rebalance priorities on a regular basis and assume responsibility in a multi-tasking in environment
  • Enthusiastic, confident and able to work independently
  • Ability to closely partner with Commercial, R&D, GSM and other divisions and work across globally within cross-cultural environment
