As a Director, Reimbursement, working on the Government Affairs, Public Policy team, you will be empowered to manage the company s reimbursement and strategy approach across private, public, managed health and government programs, and a typical day will include:


  • Manage the company's reimbursement approach and strategy in the areas of government, private and managed care health insurance programs
  • Optimize portfolio access and mitigate risk in response to the rapidly evolving U.S. payer landscape and policy changes
  • Partner closely with multiple cross-functional teams to analyze access and payment policies proposed by government and commercial payers - including rules and guidance from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS)
  • Assess impact of proposed policy to businesses within Takeda s U.S. portfolios
  • Remain informed and educate internal stakeholders on evolving and timely MHC channel, policy and reimbursement requirements and updates, including, but not limited to Medicare Part B and D, Medicaid, 340B, individual market/health exchange plan policies, ERISA and insurance law changes, MACRA Quality Payment Program (QPP) and value payment initiatives


  • Lead reimbursement, coverage and access strategies to ensure availability of Takeda s current and future portfolio within state and federal government programs
  • Serve as lead liaison with relevant CMS staff responsible for payment, coverage and reimbursement policy issues
  • Serve as internal reimbursement expert and collaborate across functions to complete financial impact analyses on reimbursement policy proposals that may affect Takeda products
  • Lead analysis of emerging policy issues related to access and reimbursement of Takeda products
  • Lead reimbursement and coverage related initiatives with external stakeholders including HCPCS applications, pursuing new CPTs, USP classification, etc.
  • Develop network of external consultants to model impact of evolving policy and payment changes across stakeholders
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to develop and implement business and advocacy strategies to address evolving policy and payment changes. Ensure alignment through internal and external communication plans


  • Bachelor s degree required. JD or MBA desirable
  • Minimum 7-10 years of payer (CMS, health plan, PBM) or related healthcare policy consulting, law or financial/actuarial firm experience
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of healthcare reimbursement environment including coverage, coding, payment, as well as how to develop, implement and manage reimbursement programs
  • Demonstrated experience working with federal healthcare programs, commercial payers/providers, and managed care organizations
  • Demonstrated experience working with FDA compliant products and solutions, and in supporting new product launches and the development of reimbursement training and sales tool materials
  • Knowledge and understanding of healthcare product development and commercialization
  • Ability to work in a deadline-driven and fast-paced environment including managing multiple projects with on time and budget completion
  • Strong analytical and business skills; ability to communicate effectively with high level executives
  • Demonstrated ability to work across functions, regions and cultures while exhibiting enterprise level leadership with the ability to inspire, motivate and drive results
  • Ability to refine team strategy based on anticipated future changes. Projects future trends of the industry and global forces to make proactive adjustments
  • Demonstrated ability to process complex information and summarize it concisely in writing and/or verbally in a professional manner and in a time sensitive environment is required
  • Demonstrated success in development/execution of targeted briefings for executive leadership, senior management and business leaders; well organized, highly motivated, innovative, process driven, results oriented; and outstanding oral and written communications skills
  • Embraces and demonstrates a diversity and inclusion mindset and role models these behaviors for the organization
  • Experience in managing projects, including overseeing work plans, budgets
  • Excellent judgment to make decisions on complex business and public policy issues, and act with a view toward what is in the best interest of the company
