Job Description


We are seeking a creative and highly motivated scientist to contribute to the ongoing innovation in medicinal chemistry and drug discovery within our immuno-oncology research team. The successful applicant should be capable not only of design and synthesis of bioactive molecules, but also have expertise in one of the following fields: nanoparticle drug delivery systems, chemical biology, structure-based drug design, or biologics-small molecule drug conjugation. Strong laboratory-based focus and experimental excellence is required for this position.


Design, synthesize, and characterize biologically active small molecules with suitable drug-like properties

Apply expertise in nanoparticle drug delivery systems, chemical biology, structure-based drug design, or biologics-small molecule drug conjugation, with strong focus on laboratory experimentation, to solve project challenges

Act as key contributor; collaborate with a broad group of scientists within Takeda and with external partners

Maintain a broad awareness of the scientific and technological landscapes of organic synthesis, medicinal chemistry and drug discovery.


PhD. in organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, or related discipline, with 2-5 years of focused training or work experience in nanoparticle drug delivery systems, chemical biology, DNA-encoded library generation, or biologics-small molecule drug conjugation

Scientific expertise in organic synthesis, including awareness and understanding of current organic chemistry trends

High level of creativity and productivity with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to champion chemistry efforts towards new directions to achieve project milestones

Outstanding oral and written communication skills and the ability to present rationale, key data, issues and accomplishments to project teams

Ability to think strategically to improve current processes within the oncology chemistry department.
