As a Research Associate / Scientist I working on the Translational and Biomarker Research team, you will be empowered to work with cross-functional teams and external partners and provide IHC assay development expertise, and a typical day will include:


The Translational and Biomarker Research (TBR) group at Takeda designs the clinical biomarker and patient characterization strategies, develops and implements clinical biomarkers assays through a network of external laboratories and delivers high quality biomarker, PK, immunogenicity and patient characterization data to support early and late stage clinical programs. TBR is dedicated to technical innovation for clinical application across multiple platform types and investigates novel technologies as needed for clinical goals and patient characterization. TBR biomarker strategies and clinical assays are utilized in all therapeutic areas of Takeda s focus: Neuroscience, Oncology and GI.

To continue to support our clinical biomarker activities we are expanding our IHC and other tissue-based assay capabilities. We seek candidates with extensive lab experience and knowledge of technology platforms with a focus on IHC and multiplex protein platforms such as IMC/MIBI to lead the development of clinical assay and outsourcing to clinical testing labs. This person will work with internal groups and outside contract organizations to ensure timely development and implementation of clinical biomarker assays using various technology platforms. Additional responsibilities include operational support of biomarker data collection in clinic and acting as subject matter expert for technical questions. The preferred candidate will have a scientific biology background to enable understanding of disease and drug mechanisms supporting assay use and increase their contributions.


  • Collaborate to transfer biomarker assays, develop, optimize and validate IHC, and other tissue based assays according to fit-for-purpose principle
  • Interact with contract organizations to outsource the biomarker assays for clinical trials
  • Collaborate with internal groups to ensure timely execution of assay development, transfer and outsourcing
  • Present biomarker data at projects team meetings
  • Responsibilities include 100% outsourcing of biomarker assays and clinical trial support activities
  • Flexibility to provide ELISA support


  • BS/MS with 3+ years of technical/lab experience
  • Hands on experience with immunohistochemistry and other tissue-based assays is required
  • ELISA experience highly desired
  • Relevant industry experience and understanding of assay regulatory guidelines highly desired
  • Biology background and experience with clinical biomarker assay development is highly desired
  • Experience with outsourcing and vendor lab management is highly desirable
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to work independently
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
