The Business Analyst (BA), R&D External Collaboration will act as a bridge between the R&D s Center for External Innovation and the R&D External Partnerships & Transverse Systems team and is responsible for analysing business problems and identifying solutions that make efficient use of technology (architecture, tools, software application, etc.) to solve those problems. The focus of the analysis is on both business process requirements as well as information or data requirements. The BA is an expert in the business domain she/he supports and directly contributes to increasing the operational efficiency of the R&D CEI business function.

As part of this role, the BA leverages appropriate cross-functional expertise from a team of architects, operations managers, strategist, business experts and IS/IT leadership to develop accurate cost, resource and time estimates for both initial development or integration and ongoing support for IT solutions. The BA is responsible for ensuring requirements, assumptions, dependencies, and risks for potential solutions to technical and business issues are assessed and documented appropriately, for both new and previously established systems. The BA is a key member of the R&D IT team, and is a focal point of customer engagement for initiatives as assigned by the Global Head, R&D External Partnerships & Transverse Systems.

Designs, promotes adoption and implementation of R&D s Innovation Management platform for managing Takeda s external partnerships. The innovation platform includes capabilities for Business Development, Alliance Management, and Competitive Intelligence.

Leads, implements & maintains quality data visualization and reporting capabilities necessary for innovation planning and execution.

Business Analysis Planning and Monitoring: Planning the tasks and activities for Business Analysis covering stakeholder analysis, managing issues, risks and requirements, and monitoring and reporting on business analysis activities, resolving conflicts, gaining formal approval through governance processes, and tracking requirements through to business case approval. Assessing proposed solutions to help the stakeholders select the solution which best fits their requirements.

Elicitation: Working with stakeholders to help them understand their requirements within the scope of a project including eliciting requirements, brainstorming options, analysing documents, running focus groups, analysing system interfaces, interviewing stakeholders and subject matter experts, observing real-time activities and work environment, facilitating requirements workshops, reverse engineering existing systems, and collecting input via surveys and questionnaires.

System Owner: Accountable for ensuring overall compliance and validated state of systems as assigned by Global Head. Responsible for data security and integrity for systems as well as inspection readiness. Takeda approver as system owner on change documentation or SDLC documentation for new releases. Gather requirements for systems enhancements and work with IS/IT outsourcing partner for delivery. Leverage technical expertise to play role of systems architect and work with enterprise architects to document architecture and obtain their approval.

Requirements Analysis: Working with the whole project team towards defining a solution that will meet the agreed requirements including documenting and analysing business inputs, modelling the business domain using process diagrams, flowcharts, data models, exploring behaviour models (use case, user experience design, storyboards, wireframes, user profiles and user stories), assessing business architecture, performing gap analysis, conducting feasibility studies, and verifying and confirming requirements.


Bachelor Degree or equivalent.

6 years or more of relevant experience

Ability to write, speak and lead in the English language

Excellent oral and written communications skills, business acumen with problem solving and analytical skills

Professional in depth knowledge of business processes in pharmaceutical industry within functional area (R&D)

Knowledge of several business and system solutions.

Experience with implementing applications.

Extensive Project management and business analyst experience.

Ability to drive continuous improvement within teams and projects.

Experience in presenting at conferences and business meetings.


Master Degree- M.B.A. degree is a plus.

Expertise with regulated systems excellent level of understanding of system validation.
