Takeda's summer internship program blends real world experience with an extensive overview of the pharmaceutical industry. This is an opportunity to directly contribute to the development of a promising new therapy in the neuroscience area. Knowledgeable mentors will provide guidance as you gain professional hands-on experience. The summer internship program is 12 weeks in length and offers a unique perspective into a world-class pharmaceutical company. Compensation is competitive, and financed temporary housing is available to those who qualify. Our internship program also provides you the opportunity to network with people at Takeda through various planned events and activities.

GI TAU Portfolio Management is responsible for providing decision and analytic support for the clinical stage programs as well as identifying gaps and making recommendations. GI TAU Portfolio Management collaborates broadly across the organization with Research, Development, Commercial, and Finance colleagues to manage initiatives related to portfolio management best practices (templates, processes, review forums, analytics, etc.) and portfolio prioritization activities. In addition, the function is responsible for setting the overall GI TAU strategic vision that impacts decision making for internal programs and external opportunities to optimize the pipeline.

This role will report to the Senior Director, GI TAU Portfolio Management will be assigned various tasks in support of ongoing GI TAU portfolio activities

The position will offer a unique perspective into a world-class biopharmaceutical company, combining real-world experience in portfolio management and strategy development / implementation in the context of clinical-stage drug development.

  • Data capture, categorization and assembly for use in analytical and strategic phase of portfolio prioritization
  • Distillation of key GI events and overall drug development trends
  • Monitor portfolio progress and related KPIs, identify gaps and make strategic recommendations
  • Assist initiatives to improve the portfolio prioritization methodology and process to effectively respond to the business dynamics and industry trends


  • Applicants must be enrolled in a U.S. accredited university for the semester before and immediately following the internship.
  • Completing 1st year MBA program, secondment from consulting firm
  • Prior experience in pharmaceutical / biotech industry or life science strategy consulting
  • Ability to review, analyze, and interpret detailed data
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Good communication and writing skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications
