Takeda Pharmaceutical s summer internship program blends real world experience with an extensive overview of the pharmaceutical industry. Knowledgeable mentors will provide guidance as you gain professional hands-on experience. The summer internship program is 12 weeks in length and offers a unique perspective into a world-class pharmaceutical company. Compensation is competitive, and financed temporary housing is available to those who qualify. Our internship program also provides you the opportunity to network with people at Takeda through various planned events and activities.
The Supply Chain team, part of the Global Manufacturing and Supply Organization at Takeda, is responsible for the
sourcing and movement of raw materials and finished goods, both domestically and internationally.
This team owns the relationship with manufacturers, packagers, warehouses, distribution centers, transportation vendors and Customs brokers. As a member of the Supply Chain team, the summer intern contributes to ensuring product is available for our patients.


  • Support the creation and development of demand forecasts, component order plans, and finished good production schedules. Collaborate with internal teams and contract manufacturers to execute plans and ensure appropriate inventory levels are achieved.
  • Support management of daily distribution activities to support the Takeda network.
  • Work with Materials Management, Customer Service, and Third Party Contractors to improve the overall supply chain. Assist in determining appropriate capacities and resources are available to produce inventories required to support the supply of on-market products.
  • Work with Third Party Manufacturers (TPMs) and assist the internal team with improving TPM performance (cost reduction, cycle times, etc) throughout the product life cycle.
  • Support cross-functional product/project teams. He (She) will be exposed to project management techniques used within the group, across departments, sites, companies and cultures aimed at optimizing communication and achieving Takeda's goals.
  • Gain international trade exposure with knowledge of import and export processes and exposure to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, FDA and USDA.
  • Be an ambassador for Takeda in interactions with outside contractors.
  • Receive extensive one-on-one mentoring from Inventory Planning Managers, Distribution Managers, and Upper Management.


  • Candidates must be enrolled in a U.S. accredited university for the semester before and immediately following the internship.
  • Candidate must have completed sophomore year of undergraduate program in Supply Chain Management prior to start of internship.

  • MS PowerPoint: Proficient
  • The ideal candidate exhibits strong analytical, problem-solving, and oral and written communication skills; he or she also possesses the ability to works well in teams, effectively manage multiple projects, and present ideas clearly and concisely.
