As a Director, Payer Marketing, Specialty, you will be empowered to represent payer insights that help inform business decisions across Takeda s portfolio of products, develop and execute an over-arching market access strategy to achieve product-specific access goals for our Specialty business. A typical day will include:

  • The Director, Payer marketing will ensure the franchise team is informed of environmental and payer insights and trends that can positively or negative impact the franchise
  • Ensures Franchise team is informed of environmental and payer insights and trends that can positively or negative impact the franchise
  • Develops payer marketing strategies and make recommendations that will ensure the Franchise team achieves the best possible access position for existing products while ensuring a sustainable revenue stream across all brands
  • Ensures close collaboration with Managed Markets, Trade, and Government Affairs colleagues along with Medical, HEOR, Marketing and Market Research colleagues to capture relevant payer insights, identify data and policy gaps and propose solutions; develop compelling value propositions and pricing and contracting strategies and ensure field-based teams are equipped with the right tools to execute the brand strategy
  • This role is responsible for developing brand specific Market Access strategies to achieve brand objective and goals by enabling Managed Markets Account teams to achieve the optimal access positions, e.g. coverage parameters, formulary positioning
  • Developing compelling value propositions and evidence generation plans
  • Ensures Franchise team has a deep understanding of underlying healthcare ecosystem/payer(Commercial, Part D, Govt., Specialty) dynamics in every therapy area in which we compete
  • Ensures the required payer insights, payer research and payer scientific advice is obtained to inform clinical development programs and existing product plans
  • For existing products, co-lead, along with HEOR, the development of the payer evidence needs and ensure this is integrated into the Medical/HEOR evidence plan
  • Works in close collaboration with colleagues in Medical and Marketing to ensure brand plans incorporate the needs of the patient, payer and healthcare provider
  • Leads the creation of robust value propositions for TPUSA products and tools for field-based teams; including innovative partnership agreements
  • Drives the development of pricing/contracting strategies working in collaboration with Legal and C&P
  • Assist in ensuring the required payer, provider and patient insights, including payer research and payer scientific advice is obtained to inform clinical development programs and business development decisions
  • Assisting in providing commercial assessments, building forecast assumptions and modeling efforts that help establish marketing and access strategies

  • Bachelor s degree in a related field; MBA, PharmD or JD preferred Years of experience
  • 5+ years pharmaceutical industry experience
  • At least 2-3 years experience in payer marketing/market access related experience
  • Deep understanding of US payers required
  • Strong understanding of US payer market dynamics and how managed care organizations make decisions across commercial & public channels
