As a Scientist Microbiome / Bacterial Expression Protein working in Biologics and New Modalities Development, you will be empowered to providing technical leadership for research project implementation and lead technology transfer activities and compiling vendor data for presentation.
This department is responsible for developing the process to mass produce microbiome related living biopharmaceutical and therapeutic protein (using yeast, E. coli or other bacteria as an expression system) products. A typical day will include:
  • Preparing complex experimental protocols.
  • Contributing to project work that includes multiple projects within functional area.
  • Reviewing, interpreting and communicating data internally (e.g., to supervisor, project teams) and prepares technical reports.
  • Proposing and implementing resolutions to technical problems/issues
  • Participating actively on GCT project teams by communicating activities from designated functional area to project team.
  • Designing experiments/unit operations independently including follow up experiments as necessary.


  • Masters degree in Gut Microbiology, Intestinal Immunology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or equivalent scientific area
  • Position requires 3 years of experience with a broad variety of molecular biological /biochemical techniques including but not necessarily limited toPlasmid amplification, plasmid manipulation, qPCR assay development, DNA sequence data analysis, NGS operation & analysis, Protein purification using various column systems, Anaerobic bacterial culture and culture media optimization, Liquid chromatography, gas chromatography, ELISA, western blotting, SPR, FACS operation & analysis, etc.
  • Broad knowledge of gut microbiology, specifically pertaining to intestinal tract immunology, central nervous system disease, basic oncology and regulatory science
