As a Scientist- Protein Biochemist working on the Material and Innovation team, you will be empowered to develop and execute research assignments for specific projects and provide technical leadership to project teams. A typical day will include:
  • Significantly and independently contributing to project work which may include analytical determination of protein therapeutics and laboratory scale production of recombinant therapeutics.
  • Supports local and global initiatives that include collaborative research with internal and external groups.
  • Assisting with development of project strategy and communicates complex data/decisions within department and other functions
This person will be responsible for significant or sole technical leadership within project or complex study. Prepares technology transfer documentation and regulatory documents or coordinates with team members to ensure execution
  • Provides theoretical/conceptual input to the design, development and execution of research assignments for a specific project or projects within protein biologics.
  • Independently plans and executes most protein characterization and optimization experiments within expertise and develops an awareness of operations in other related biologics areas.
  • Responsible for significant or sole technical leadership within project or complex study. Prepares technology transfer documentation and coordinates with team members to ensure execution.
  • Represents line functions on teams as appropriate/necessary. Proactively identifies process or study issues/challenges and proposes potential resolutions


Masters or PhD degree in chemistry, biology or related pharmaceutical science

Significant analytical experience with a broad variety of biochemical techniques, including but not necessarily limited to liquid chromatography, gel or capillary electrophoresis, and/or spectroscopic-based methods, cell-based assays, ELISAs, flow cytometry, SPR, and/or other assays used to evaluate biological properties and composition

Experience with characterization studies of novel synthetic and bio-similar molecules. Strong understanding of protein structure/function, and functionalized conjugation tagging.

Experience with the development and scale-up of purification processes and the use of bio-separation equipment. Familiarity with bench scale to large-scale protein purification of biologics from bacterial and mammalian expression cell lines.
