Accountable for Oncology Global Medical Affairs Project Management function by establishing and managing a best in class project management group. Provides leadership to dedicated Medical Project Management associates across all Oncology Medical Affairs Franchises and Global Functions.
The Global Head of Medical Project Management has a key organizational role by leading a team that partner with GFH/IDMT Leads to drive the development of integrated strategic and tactical plans, ensuring organizational alignment and seamless cross-functional execution. The team also partners with Global Function Leads to drive strategic initiatives to enable functional excellence in Medical Affairs across Global, Region and Countries.
1.Establish and lead a best in class Oncology Global Medical Affairs Project Management function
o Responsible to set the strategic direction for the Global Medical Affairs Project Management function
o Provide leadership to Medical Project Management associates to drive the desired partnership between the Medical Franchises, Clinical Operations, Scientific Engagement and Communications, GMVA and GDD Project/Program Management Teams
o Accountable for the selection, onboarding, talent and career development of Global Business Operations associates; accountable for ensuring adequate project allocation
o Partner with GDD, OBU and Group Project Management functions to support development and utilization of common project management tools for Novartis Associates worldwide
o Accountable to drive functional excellence for the community encompassing all major program management expertise (e.g. technical knowledge of project management of cross functional Medical Affairs activities)
2.Accountable to drive transformative change in Project Management (tools and processes) into the Medical Operations teams practice. Contribute to the continued design of the new Project Management system and principles, to increase efficacy and productivity of Medical Affairs. Ensure continued integration of project management tools and processes in the day-to-day project team practice. Support the establishment of best practice and standardized Project Management processes across Global Medical Franchises and Functions,
3.Partner with GFH / IDMT Leads to drive the development and execution of medical strategic & tactical planning (e.g. IDAPS). Align with other Program/Project management functions within the OBU (e.g. GMVA) and GDD for execution of yearly business planning activities (develop common templates, timelines and business review cycles)
4.Lead key OMA/GMA strategic initiatives across Global, Region Countries to achieve operational excellence in processes and tools
5.Support the GFH / IDMT Leads on budget and resource planning. In partnership with Finance coordinate the forecasting of OMA/GMA budgets (costs and headcount) for main planning cycles (LF1, LF2, Budget). Supports budget consolidation and preparation for Finance board meetings.
6.Support preparation of executive presentations, follow-up on key action items, and lead regular business reviews

PhD or PharmD, or other advanced degree such as MBA is an advantage
Further Education in e.g. Educational Sciences, Change Management, Project Management, Coaching
Minimum 10+ years relevant pharmaceutical industry experience preferably across several fields
Profound knowledge of the Medical Affairs activities spanning from IITs, Phase IV studies, Medical Engagement and Market Access
Proven track record of leading business planning and program management
Inspiring leader capable of fostering a sense of belonging
Ability to lead complex international multidisciplinary teams with a pragmatic approach
Ability to think strategically and communicate complex information in simple terms
Strong leadership presence with the ability to present and interact with senior management
Facilitation skills for bridging between scientific and business, and for managing effective international and cross-divisional collaboration
Proven self-starter with experience in building capabilities based on defined business needs across geography and functions
Able to influence decision making and drive project teams for superior results
Proven ability to build strong, effective relationships with internal partners at all levels of the organization
