Design, create, execute, and/or troubleshoot complex multi-parameter flow cytometry based biomarker development and validation intended for cancer clinical trials and diagnostics. Demonstrate critical thinking, initiative and be able to manage success and failure of their projects. Should exhibit high level of independence and be able to prioritize multiple projects and work load. Participate on cross-functional teams and projects. Will contribute to launch of new platforms/assays or manage projects of strategic importance. Identifies challenges and communicates risks to leadership in an expedient manner. Be able to work under minimal supervision while consulting with peers as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Create, execute, and troubleshoot new procedures and assays for new offerings/client/clinical trial needs. Ensure timeliness and accuracy of completion, quality of results and efficient use of resources.
Identify and troubleshoot problems that may adversely affect flow cytometry test performance/results and either correct or escalate as needed to senior staff member for guidance/assistance.
Design major experiments; evaluate and review test data, and prepares associated documentation.
Plan and execute laboratory research and testing of clinical trial patient specimens as assigned. Perform instrument maintenance and function checks and document all activities.
Work in conjunction with internal departments and serve as consultant to provide scientific expertise on project execution and design.
Attend departmental and client meetings; develop and present data collected for assigned projects.
Manage assigned projects and timelines; establish, execute, and monitor project plan, including deadlines. Oversee work of project staff as assigned. Develop and monitor work schedules; ensure timeliness and quality of work.
Train new staff on technical and operational procedures. Serve as a technical resource for other departmental staff.
Participate as a member of the department on the company Quality Assurance Committee as requested.
Perform other related duties as requested by supervisor.
Basic background in vaccines and or immunotherapies preferred
Strong technical background in cellular biology techniques (cell-based assays, flow cytometry, etc.) required.
Proficiency/experience in complex, combinatorial or high dimensional data analysis (eg., R, viSNE, etc, is a plus but not required.
Meticulous attention to detail, proficient reasoning and problem-solving skills in experimental design, data analysis and interpretation is required.
Knowledge of statistical methods desired.
Experience and understanding of techniques directly applicable to the research services provided by Navigate Biopharma (e.g. tissue culture, molecular and cellular biological techniques such as PCR, flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, handling and isolation of cells from primary clinical trial patient specimens) desired.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of, and ability to apply principles, concepts, practices and standards of assay development and analytical methods validation and sample testing in a clinical laboratory setting is a plus.
Demonstrated ability to analyze, verify and interpret laboratory data.
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills required.
Demonstrated success working independently and in a team environment.
