Explore hypothesis-driven early development concepts, aligned with early translation clinical oncology, US clinical development and medical affairs and global development teams, to accelerate differentiation opportunities with immuno-oncology and targeted therapies.
Ensure integration of well-crafted and focused biomarker and patient selection hypotheses, experimental design, execution, interpretation and delivery of data seamlessly integrated with broader development program
Work directly with clinical investigators, academic collaborators and medical experts, to execute and expand clinical differentiation research efforts
Champion high-priority clinical concepts through the timely and efficient execution of company sponsored trials.
Assess the clinical importance and the feasibility of external investigator proposed study concepts, for potential support
Ensure organizational, operational and priority alignment across the R&D organization
This position requires strong leadership skills in directing and supporting Oncology Business Unit (OBU) strategic direction. A strong knowledge of oncology therapeutic area is mandatory. This knowledge should include an understanding of tumor biology, target mechanisms and treatment/development trends in oncology. The TMD needs to have an in-depth understanding of the evolving science of immuno-oncology, targeted therapies and precision oncology.
Key internal stakeholders include new product strategy team, disease strategy team members, new product medical directors, translational clinical oncology, oncology precision medicine team, Global and US development teams
Key skill requirements for the position include: leadership, analytical thinking, an effective communication and collaborative style, and a successful track record for both innovative thinking and results driven project management.
Ability to align and coordinate efforts with the early translation team, as well as the US and Global development teams, is critical.
The TMD will have deep scientific experience with an emphasis on biomarkers, in depth knowledge of the oncology disease area, a clinical development perspective, and a record of success working cross-functionally with multiple teams.

Required years of experience: 10 years in pharmaceutical related experiences. 5 to 7 years in oncology; 5 years drug development
Education:MD is required
Specific experience in oncology drug development (small molecule and biologic / immuno-oncology) in one or more major disease areas (e.g. melanoma, lung cancer, hematologic cancers, lymphoma, etc.)
Extensive knowledge of genetics, cancer biology and molecular mechanisms of cancer is required
Ability to work effectively in a matrix environment that includes interactions with multiple stakeholder groups; particularly demonstrated ability to work across the critical interfaces whether within Global and US teams in development and translational medicine.
Knowledge and understanding of the management and implementation of clinical/translational research operations
Ability to synthesize complex scientific, clinical and business problems into strategy and tactics
Experience in regulatory submission/review process a plus
Experience fostering an environment that supports creativity and innovation, where individuals can take calculated risks to drive success of programs
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where speed is paramount
Strong interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills required, ability to bridge scientific with business communication and strong negotiation skills a plus
