The successful candidate will be responsible for directing, and managing technical projects in support of Global Drug Development, Precision Medicine objectives.
Direct technical projects in compliance with appropriate SOPs, WIs, Novartis, and relevant regulatory guidelines. Includes planning and initiating new projects, providing scientific input, monitoring the progress of on-going projects, and evaluating the outcomes.
Be responsible for team results and their communication and presentation.
Critically evaluate team conclusions.
Oversee the interpretation of data and preparation of reports.
Develop and recommend objectives for lab team.
Provide technical expertise to the function, act as consultant on technical project solutions
Provide leadership in solving scientific/technical problems and initiate new project concepts.
Conduct departmental meetings and represent department at internal meetings.
Work collaboratively across interdisciplinary teams
Group and individually train and mentor junior team members
May act as backup for supervisor on a limited basis

PhD (USA) or equivalent in scientific discipline such as biology, chemistry, pharmacology
Excellent written and spoken English, additional language fluency a plus. with at least 3 years of appropriate and relevant experience in field; or MS (USA) or equivalent with at least 6 years of appropriate and relevant experience in field; or BS (USA) or equivalent with at least 8 years of appropriate and relevant experience in field.
Full understanding of relevant laboratory instrumentation such as: thermal cyclers, NGS platforms, spectrophotometers, mass spectrometry, flow cytometers, cell counters
Full understanding of relevant software such as: Microsoft Office Suite, JMP, MiniTab, R, Microsoft Project, BLAST
Full understanding of relevant methods such as: DNA/RNA extraction, (RT-) qPCR, fragment analysis, Sanger sequencing, cell culture, NGS library prep, RNASeq, FACS, ELISA, IHC, Luminex, MSD, bioinformatics
Full understanding of current literature in the field such as: hematology biomarkers and asso-ciated diagnostics
Expertise and previous experience in NGS is highly desirable
