Lead all BD&L efforts including Search & Evaluation, Transactions, Alliance Management and Out-licensing for Novartis Oncology BD&L on opportunities ranging from in-licensing, M&A, out-licensing (in coordination with Global BD&L Out-licensing team), regional BD&L deals, commercial partnerships and clinical trial collaborations.
1. Lead all BD&L efforts (in-licensing, M&A, out-licensing in coordination with Global BD&L Out-licensing team, regional BD&L deals, commercial partnerships and clinical trial collaborations) for OBU BD&L including Search & Evaluation, Transactions, Due Diligence and Alliance Management. 2. Develop and execute process to identify promising external clinical stage assets to support OBU strategy, including organizing BD&L ad boards 3. Interface with key stakeholders within the OBU to develop and lead efforts to develop and implement a robust external partnering strategy including key academic institutions 4. Develop and execute process to monitor high interest clinical assets and to build productive relationships with senior management of potential partners 5. Execute on complex transactions requiring effective intra- and inter divisional stakeholder management (e.g. NIBR, Pharma). 6. Build and maintain close relationship with the venture capital community, including MPM 7. Develop and execute process to track BD&L efforts 8. Lead the coordination of BD&L effort at key business and scientific/medical meet-ings 9. Lead evaluation of potential M&A opportunities and work closely with Group M&A to execute on prioritized and supported M&A transactions 10. Manage the OBU BD&L team and provide development opportunities for team members as appropriate 11. Coordinate Oncology Deal Committee meetings to review and provide timely in-put/decisions on opportunities 12. Coordinate approval flow for deals as appropriate (ODC/DC/ECN) 13. Identify and access Companion Diagnostics (CDx) technologies and capabilities in line with Oncology portfolio and Oncology commercialization strategies 14. Lead the new culture transformation for Oncology BD&L team and integrate effectively with Global BD&L organization

Satisfactory BD&L audits 8. Orderly and efficient interactions with various governance processes Well-coordinated conference coverage throughout the year with efficient meeting coverage at conferences

BS in biomedical sciences required, Ph.D. or MS in biomedical sciences or MD strongly preferred; MBA is a strong plus
Experience/Professional requirement: - Minimum 10 years of industry experience, minimum 5 years of experience in business development or related functions - Experience in BD&L and experience in leading and negotiating deals in life sciences; Experience in Oncology BD&L a plus - Scientific/medical training/experience - Business training/experience - Understanding of Pharma, biotech sector
