Customers First (CF) is a global initiative that seeks to leverage the combined potential of the Novartis Group of Companies by planning, developing and implementing cross-business unit initiatives that generates incremental sales. In 2016, the Business Units of Alcon, Oncology, Pharmaceuticals and Sandoz were able to produce $2.4bn of revenue as part of Customers First initiatives. Through these initiatives, Customers First facilitated 4.8% of total group sales.
The Customers First Country Lead is responsible for helping to drive Customers First within their respective country. The Customers First Country Lead will be responsible for establishing and working with the Country CF Core Team. This team is comprised of 1 associate per business unit, 1 finance lead and may also include other members (ie, legal, regulatory, etc). The Country Lead works with business leaders in all of the Business Units to develop new programs and initiatives that drive commercial synergies and enables the country to meet its annual Customers First sales target.
The goals of this position are to:
Achieve country specific annual sales targets.
Drive a collaborative, group mindset throughout the Country organization on the potential of cross-business unit opportunities.
Provide the resources, knowledge and executive alignment necessary to implement new, innovative initiatives within the Country.
This exciting position requires strong commercial business knowledge and interpersonal skills and a driven, can-do mindset. An ability to act independently outside of a structured environment is also critical. As this position involves extensive executive interaction and the need for strategic vision, this position affords an excellent opportunity for personal growth and insights into corporate strategy and the operations of the Business Units.
Proactively identify initiatives through individual and group discussions and workshops with leadership and associates
Develop and implement workshops and other forums frequently throughout the year to identify cross-business unit opportunities, identify ownership, gain senior leadership support and alignment and eventually implement
Develop strategic resources and proposals that uncover opportunities to share with the business units and country leadership
Participate in and/or lead cross-business unit negotiations
Support the development of a Country Customers First plan to ensure short-term goal attainment and long-term growth
Assist in the development and implementation of at least 2 Customers First workshops per year (at least 2 full workshops per year + mini workshops that are aligned with the categories of who collaborates)
Provide feedback and quality data to Global team which supports reporting and future planning.
Provide examples of best practice where possible and ensure examples from other countries are implemented where possible.
Utilize Country toolkit and other support tools (ie, the Country Collaboration Profile, Heat Map 2.0v, etc) to ensure understanding of roles, responsibilities and to drive the program
GDWH to be maintained quarterly by CF Country Lead
Update financial reporting systems (inputting of financials to be done by the finance lead); align and ensure sign-off of financials with CFFO, global leadership and Global finance leadership
Provide analytical support and leadership regarding local Customers First methodologies and financials
Attend and participate in global and regional Customers First meetings, webcasts and TCs
Key Performance Indicators:
Deliver country annual Customers First target
Maintain a full pipeline of Customers First initiatives
Incubate new organic ideas from Novartis associates from idea to implementation.
Raise the level of awareness of Customers First within the Country, measured through agreed upon metrics
Continually challenge conventional thinking about cross-divisional collaborations; break down barriers to enable growth
Viewed as a critical business partner by the Global stakeholders, Customers First Team, the Country Executive Committee and all Division stakeholders.

Bachelor s Degree Required, MBA preferred
5-7 years pharmaceutical experience and 3 years of total experience in one or a combination of the following areas: Key Account Management, Strategy, Cross-Functional Leadership
Demonstrated record of success
-Demonstrated ability to lead without authority, need to be able to drive through execution across multiple stakeholders/franchises
Strong Strategic and Business Acumen skills
Strong presentation and facilitation skills required
Strong commercial background (sales, marketing, BD&L, or strategy preferred)
Ability to work and achieve objectives independently
Ability to interpret and challenge data/financials/methodologies
