This role is responsible for leading and managing a team of Field Patient Services Liaisons (PSL) who are the main point of contact to MS patients and HCPs in the process of initiating therapy. (NOTE: this team will not engage in the practice of nursing.) The Area Leader will hire, train and manage the work responsibilities of the Patient Services Liaisons to optimize the MS patient and physician experience, with the ultimate goal of improving patient outcomes. The Area Leader will be responsible for ensuring that Patient Services Liaison activities are compliant with Novartis policies and procedures. The Area Leader will also be responsible for proper development of the PSL team and for coordinating with other colleagues within Patient Services to develop and implement changes to the program to improve the patient experience.
The Area Leader will be responsible for:
Hiring, training and providing leadership and strategic direction to a dedicated team of Field PSLs in a manner consistent and compliant with company policies and requirements
Continually developing Field PSLs, including training on marketplace and therapy area changes and managing their performance against set objectives
Managing the geography to ensure appropriate coverage of patients and physicians offices
Where necessary and appropriate, working directly with physicians and patients to help initiate therapy
Seeking ways to improve the patient experience and working cross-functionally with Patient Service colleagues to develop and implement improvements to the program
Acting as a program liaison to the Commercial Sales counterpart in their region
Ensuring compliance with Novartis policies and procedures and full integration into the Novartis culture and support resources
Position reports to Head of Field Nursing, Patient Services; Position will have potentially up to 10 direct reports (may fluctuate over time).
Area Leaders will manage a travel, expense and training budget for their areas.
The efforts of the Patient Services team directly impact the onboarding and adherence to prescribed medications and the satisfaction of patients and physicians with the therapy initiation process

5+ years of experience in pharmaceutical, biotech or related/applicable industry
People and Brand Management experience
Experience managing field teams in a specialty category preferred,
Management. of a field team is a plus
Direct and successful experience in shaping and managing diverse high performing teams
PSL Educator Lead experience including influential leadership at Regional or National level preferred
Strong compliance mindset, high level of integrity and ethical judgment
Strong ability to collaborate and work cross-functionally within a matrix environment
Understanding of privacy laws and regulations including HIPAA and similar state laws
Excellent computer skills
Available for significant traveling
Valid driver s license required
Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a team towards meeting and exceeding objectives
Strong leadership, teaching, planning and organization, analytics, decision making and problem solving skills
Demonstrated experience in fostering compliance with company policies and procedures
Commercial experience in a specialty category with an advanced marketing mindset
Experience managing access, distribution and reimbursement in a specialty category a plus
