The Global Head of Marketing Excellence and Operations is accountable for driving the marketing functional mandate within Novartis Oncology.
This also includes structure, processes (eg. IPS planning), roles & responsibilities, governance, communication, skills upgrades, training at all levels.
Drive the upgrade of the new customer engagement business model, including multi-channel marketing
Ensures that marketing competencies encompass all business models (incl. primary and specialty)
Responsible to enhance digital agility across the marketers, as well as enhance appropriate collaboration and communication between marketing and other functions, such as sales, medical and patient access.
To deliver on this mandate requires high level stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills delivered through indirect leadership/influencing behaviours within cross functional leadership within GMVA, global functions and country/regional leadership. It also requires pragmatic, tangible operational thinking to support local key market effectiveness.
The Global Head of Marketing Excellence must work closely and collaboratively with key Pharma Leaders (GMVA, GMA, Regions and CPOs) as well as other key Novartis stakeholders (e.g. IT, PLS) to align and fulfill common objectives such as:
Owns the development and implementation of IDAPS. Partners with the WW teams (global, top countries, regions, medical..etc.) co-create high quality brand and disease area strategies based on external insights, timely launch readiness and clear externally based strategic assumptions to support effective strategic financial planning
Drives consistent application of processes across the lifecycle of our brands from DDP (New Products) through to late lifecycle.
Pre launch readiness must have clear timelines, process and directly take from IPS strategy. Ensuring all DDP through FDP to launch assets have clear pre-launch planning timelines, objectives and tangible actions in place.
Enable the effective measurement of the delivery and follow through of strategic imperatives / tactics
Drives functional and technical marketing upskilling agenda for all levels of marketing within Oncology (across Global Countries). Including the competencies, skills and knowledge expected of our marketing professionals. Ensuring both a profile that is effective for today and with a continued view on skills/mindset required for the future business models.
Develop role profiles for key marketing positions and ensure robust selection and as-sessment criteria/processes in place with HR to ensure quality talent staffing and devel-opment. This may include the reintroduction/redesign of senior marketing develop-ment/assessment centers.
Collaborates with PLS to scope provision of functional process support to operating business (launch readiness, elements of insights, forecasting etc)
Drives and co-leads the redesign of new commercial models. This includes the imple-mentation of new technologies that will help us win in the marketplace.
Assures that different marketing tactics are in-line with NP4/legal/regulatory guidelines by leading the team responsible for the review approval process of the all tactics across the organization

University Degree (Science, preferred, Economics)
MBA is desirable
English fluent spoken & written; any other European language is an advantage
8 12 years experience at country operational level plus >10 years marketing experience (global and local). Strategic planning, Market Access & Medical understanding
Track record of highly successful delivery and positive performance results- global and local
Significant country operational experience mandatory, multicounty experience highly desirable; regional/global experience a significant plus (GM experience highly desirable)
Experience with early phase development/new products desirable
Excellent project/process management skills
Experienced in working with matrix functions to develop cross functional winning strategies and tactics.
Outstanding flexibility, adaptability and sense of client service
Good understanding of market research methods and processes

Maturity to deal with matters of confidentiality & sensitivity
Able to build collaborative relationships with multifunctional teams
