The purpose of this global role is to ensure the commercial competitiveness and leadership of our Precision Medicine portfolio, thereby enhancing the value of our Oncology pipeline, by shaping the design and implementation of innovative biomarker, diagnostic test, diagnostic platform, software and big data solutions that support Novartis treatment access in the marketplace.
1)Leads diagnostic portfolio commercial strategy, including prioritization, interoperability and lifecycle management.
a)Manages two directors who each provide commercial strategy and inputs into multiple in-dividual Precision Medicine diagnostic programs, by driving an integrated and collabora-tive process with numerous stakeholders including OPM, TCO, NIBR, BD&L, external di-agnostic partners, external consultants, brand diagnostic disease leads and regional di-agnostic leads.
b)Provides commercial diagnostics perspective to support NIBR/TCO Oncology Biomarker Pipeline.
c)As a member of the Integrated Precision Medicine Team, provides commercial guidance to support transition of precision medicine diagnostic programs to full development, post-PoC.
d)Provides commercial diagnostic representation to Precision Medicine Project Teams (OPM, Dx, GPTs, and COEs).
e)Forecasts the impact of diagnostic testing on Novartis Rx Disease Area Strategy /pipeline deliverables.
2)Leads commercial aspects of diagnostic platform and biomarker strategic alliances, including in-licensing, negotiation and alliance management.
a)Co-chairs the Novartis/ Thermo-Fisher /Pfizer Joint Steering Committee for Next Genera-tion Sequencing, along with the Head of OPM (Senior Vice President) and BD&L Leader (Executive Director).
b)Co-chairs the Novartis/ Qiagen Joint Steering Committee for PCR with the Head of OPM (Senior Vice President) BD&L Leader (Executive Director)
c)Develops and leads contract negotiations to implement long-term strategic partnerships with diagnostic companies.
3)Provides commercial leadership and due diligence analysis for technology innovation pro-grams for companion diagnostics and enabling diagnostic technologies. Provides feedback to executive committee management regarding assessment of external company business development opportunities.
4)Leads Disruptive Technology programs related to diagnostic testing such as Real Time On-cology.
5)Chairs the Commercial Diagnostic Coordinating Committee (CDCC) that provides feedback to Diagnostic Brand leaders and regional leaders regarding optimization of diagnostic commercial strategies.
6)Responsible for ensuring that diagnostic development and commercialization plans for preci-sion medicine programs are technically feasible, region budget appropriate, and effective for enabling accessibility of patients to treatment.
a)Manages multiple external consulting programs, conducts advisory boards with external medical experts.
b)Performs Market research and competitive intelligence related to diagnostic testing for select programs
c)Approves all market requirements documents for pipeline diagnostic programs.
d)Works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to develop worldwide-integrated launch and operations plans for diagnostics to ensure successful adoption of treatments worldwide.
7)Key Diagnostic Lead with External Organizations
a)Works as an industry expert to advise Precision Medicine public affairs groups such as the Precision Medicine Coalition and The European Association of Precision Medicine and United Nations.
b)Regularly invited as to present as a speaker or as a panel chair at external meetings, thus furthering the reputation of Novartis in the precision medicine arena.
8)Establishes external collaborations such as Diagnostic Centers of Excellence (COEs), collaborations with other pharmaceutical companies or academic institutions, as well as public/ private partnerships such as the Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI).

Education (minimum/desirable): BA/BS is required; PhD in Life Sciences is desirable.
Experience/Professional requirement:15 years or greater in diagnostic Product development, diagnostics marketing and BD&L for Diagnostics in Biotech or Pharmaceuticals fields
