This role is responsible for building, and leading the team of Area Leaders Patient Services (ALPS) and Patient Services Liaisons (PSLs) who are the main point of contact for immunology and dermatology patients, HCPs and office staff in the process of patient onboarding, and disease and product education for patients and HCP staff. (NOTE: this team will not engage in the practice of nursing or sales). The Regional Director, Patient Services is responsible for execution of brand and patient services strategy and tactics and sets the direction, course and tone for this critically important group. The regional director is accountable for (1) patient and physician satisfaction within the Novartis Patient and Specialty Services Organization; (2) ensuring ALPS are coaching, developing and holding PSLs accountable for meeting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and employing appropriate performance management measures to ensure performance is meeting expectations; (3) ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Novartis policies and procedures. The Regional Director, Patient Services has ultimate responsibility for assembling and maintaining a dedicated and successful team of PSLs and Area Leaders and for helping to identify and implement improvements to the Patient Services process. This is a highly visible role that will be expected to lead and succeed by collaborating with patient services, brand and sales team colleagues. Develops and presents quarterly business plans with and is fully aligned with commercial colleagues and immersed in the local business strategy and tactics; with deep knowledge of Immunology and Dermatology and centers of excellence for each disease state.
In alignment with all applicable laws and regulations and Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation (NPC) policies, the Regional Director, Patient Services is responsible for:
Lead a team of 5-6 Area Leader, Patient Services (ALPS). This includes (but not limited to) recruiting / hiring, coaching, developing, assessing performance, delegation, training and providing leadership and strategic direction and assisting with personnel issues.
Aligning the customer facing PSL Field Team with the overall Patient Services strategy
Implementing the overall culture and mission of Patient Services and ensuring alignment between program objectives, brand strategy, and overall customer satisfaction
Managing the deployment and implementation of Field PSL resources to build lasting relationships with patients and physicians and workload management
Ensuring the entire PSL field team has a deep understanding of the disease states, marketplace and conditions for which we have products including the needs of patients, specialists and their staff and key competitors.
Maintaining strategic alignment with headquarters and with brand tactics
Hold ALPS accountable for caseload balancing to ensure equitable workload across all territories.
Representing Patient Services field PSL/ALPS operations with Novartis leadership ensuring that Patient Service field PSL ALPS personnel have the tools, training and talent to be successful
Taking appropriate actions to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, Novartis policies and procedures and full integration into the Novartis culture and support resources
Holding both direct and indirect reports accountable for the success of their performance in a manner consistent and compliant with company policies, requirements, and applicable laws and regulations;; making changes in process and personnel if necessary to improve outcomes
Coordination of nursing-related services with 3rd parties vendors, as may be applicable (e.g. injection training, hub services )
Assess performance level of ALPS and PSLs within assigned region, ensuring each employee is contributing to the overall objectives of the business.
Manage operating budget and allocate resources to optimize business results
Lead assigned Regional Field Team alignment to and ownership of NPC policies including Code of Conduct, and all applicable laws and regulation
Collaborate with HR to resolve behavioural, policy, and/or performance related issues.
Driving within their assigned territory by automobile and frequent air travel are essential functions of this role.

Bachelor s Degree
Licensed, Registered Nurse with licensure in state in which he/she resides or hold a degree or license in another healthcare professional field (preferred)
Healthcare Field of Study (i.e. Nursing)
Master s Degree (and/or MBA)
Fluent in English (oral and written)
12+ years of Pharmaceutical, Biotech and/or related industry experience
Experience leading field forces of health care professionals (especially, nurses)
Direct and successful experience in shaping and managing high performing teams and managing performance to achieve team alignment and KPIs
Strong cross functional leadership and ability to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders and other cross functional partners Sales, Finance, HR, Brand, Customer Strategy & Operations, Sales Training and other key internal stakeholders
Understanding of patient privacy laws including HIPAA and similar state laws.
Experience in fostering compliance with company policies and procedures
Must possess sound business understanding and judgment to develop business plans and operational budgets; identify opportunities and challenges in the marketplace; and to make decisions that will support the overall program objectives.
Demonstrated strong analytical and leadership skills, including creative, problem solving mindset linked to track-record of constructively challenging status-quo
Ability to travel by automobile and air as needed
Brand Management experience preferred
Experience with managing the delivery of patient service programs in the field
Full understanding of all players in healthcare specialty landscape and all sites of care
Understand the breadth of how biologics/specialty medicines are procured, reimbursed, distributed, and serviced.
Outstanding influence and communication skills (oral and written) , able to communicate effectively with Executive Leadership
Ability to learn quickly; proven resilience and adaptability to change
