Responsible for providing a range of IP formalities tasks under limited supervision.
Proactively and independently fulfil administrative tasks, and guarantee continuity thereof (e.g. review, analyse and manage forthcoming deadlines / settle deadlines / maintain state of the art literature lists / review and process daily mail).
Independently draft all standard responses to patent agents (e.g. request for examination / IDS / requests for extension of deadlines), draft good variety of some non-standard/more detailed responses with limited Attorney and/or Senior Paralegal input/supervision.
Detects and communicates data inconsistencies according to set guidelines and rules, analyses and reports finding and proposes solutions to manager.
Ability to analyse and adapt processes in order to improve efficiency etc.
Actively co-lead and participate in team and Patent Services cross-team projects as a representative of the team and provide deliverables on an agreed timeline.
Organise and proactively coordinate attorney work relating to patent applications.
Drive and contribute to review of internal processes between different sections of the Innovative Medicines patent department (e.g. PADS / Filing Controls / portfolio management). Participate in PADS section of Business Unit meetings, as representative of Formalities team.
Take ownership and overall responsibility for the completeness and correctness of patent application files.
Ensure consistent back-up/cover service is provided to Attorneys.
Participates in the introduction of new Pharma Patent Services Employees.
Participate in on-boarding of new Attorneys, i.e. full brief on Patent Services role and support provided by Formality team.
Understanding of IP Data tasks and ability to assist team. Undertake training within Foreign Filing team.

Education and/or professional experience:
Paralegal qualification, IP certificate e.g. WIPO general IP exam course, Certificate in Patent Administration (CIPA).
Previous experience as Junior Patent Paralegal.
Matura / High School Diploma, some university / college. Science degree preferred.
Fluency in English (oral and written).
Knowledge of 2nd language an advantage.
