The Global Head Mobility Solutions has final accountability for the innovation, strategy, operations, and related development deliverables for a medium to high complexity Program or a portfolio of Programs within a designated disease/clinical area (two or more low or medium complexity Programs). The predominant function of the role is to lead a multidisciplinary team of senior functional experts focused on securing global regulatory approval, market access and optimized commercial value of the program/portfolio while ensuring this is achieved with a high quality, full compliance (internal and external, e.g. regulatory, requirements) within budget and in a competitive and timely manner, utilizing both the internal or other identified expert resources necessary for success. As Global Head Mobility Solutions, she/he leads the the Musculoskeletal Mobility Solutions Platform (MMS) - a novel integrated cross-Divisional Novartis team combining pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical elements to address the loss of mobility from musculoskeletal diseases. The Global Head MMS sets the strategic direction and establishes the governance to integrate or align with the existing NVS portfolio around mobility endpoints and solutions. She/he also enriches existing activities with external partnerships and collaborations. In addition she/he may serve as pre-PoC advisor to one or more early stage programs to ensure smooth transition to Development (may or may not take Global Program Head responsibility for these programs).
Establish short and long range project/portfolio vision and strategy Ensure alignment cross global functions, regions and CPOs in regards to strategy and direction Leverage knowledge, experience, understanding of external stakeholders, internal team capabilities and portfolio needs to develop a compelling, innovative vision and strategy for the program/portfolio Establish program strategy and execute implementation through milestones and decision points by leveraging cross-functional teams Maintain a close collaboration with groups outside of Development including Medical Affairs and Marketing Anticipate internal and external drivers of changes to strategy, and respond by making well-judged and rapid revisions to program/portfolio strategy Interact with IFB, IMB and other management boards (i.e CLT) to secure internal stakeholder buy in to vision and strategy.
Develop and maintain a key communication strategy for investor relations and external communications around the program /portfolio. Lead the newly created, global Matrixed cross-divisional Musculoskeletal Mobility Solutions (MMS) team Create and communicate vision for the Musculoskeletal Mobility Solutions (MMS) to create a real world patient solution ecosystem and to develop real world patient solutions to restore and maintain mobility in old age and disease. Deliver unique, leading edge, new to the industry, real world patient outcomes with ultimate goal to unearth significant commercial opportunities for Novartis by integrating nutritional supplements, pharmaceuticals (musculoskeletal drug discovery pipeline), and digital health technology (e.g, biomarkers, imaging analysis, medical devices). Create innovative research directions and development programs and introduce new creative research approaches to the existing programs and activities relating to mobility assessment and endpoints. Identify disease categories and prioritize pilot indications with highest benefit from integrated solutions, while ensuring fit with Novartis pipeline. Partner and align with relevant existing NVS initiatives (e.g., in the digital space) with Musculoskeletal Mobility Solutions (MMS), leverage information from ongoing projects within NVS as well as establishing partnerships with external communities/sponsors to e.g. develop novel clinical endpoints. Lead development of end-to-end user-facing solutions, including connected devices, integrated 3rd party apps/solutions, and data management (storage, handling, etc).

Doctoral degree or equivalent required, MD preferred
Minimum 8 years of drug development experience, including experience in dossier submission for new or supplemental indication.
Ideally candidate will have strong background in musculoskeletal Disease area.
Proven track record of Research &Development leadership and management.
Clinical Background relevant to the Programs in the Development Franchise (Medical Training or Experience on Program Teams) strongly preferred.
Experience in product registration and major Health Authority interactions preferred.
