The Head Organizational Development will build and execute the OD strategy for the US General Medicines and in partnership with the President, Executive Leadership Team, key internal stakeholders and HR Executive Leadership.
This role will be focused on continuing to deepen our organizational health and provide industry-leading OD expertise to lead large-scale change management, team effectiveness efforts, organizational structure design, culture transformation, and strategic initiatives to deliver superior business results. This role will provide this leadership at the local country level and work closely with the Novartis Global Pharmaceutical Center of Excellence in the design of global OD strategies to embed these global programs at the local level.
This role reports to the Head of HR for US General Medicines and will be part of the US General Medicines Leadership Team. As the Head of the OD COE, this role will have 1-2 direct reports and leverage external support where needed.
OD Strategy & Planning:
Diagnose and assess organizational gaps in partnership with key internal stakeholders and determine appropriate interventions, which could include organization structure, roles and responsibilities, change management, engagement and culture plans.
Develop and implement strategic OD plans for US Gen Meds on industry-leading, cutting edge OD practices in line with business needs and OD strategy that are innovative and easily executed.
Partner with key internal stakeholders, CEO, HR, Executive Leadership and top leaders to gain alignment and to drive the OD strategy and plan.
Create and manage OD metrics and drive Executive Committee (EC) and HR Leadership ownership of these metrics
Strategic Counsel: Provide strategic counsel to c-suite and other key leaders that build organizational capability and resilience, and high performing teams in order to allow them to achieve strategies and goals effectively and sustainably. This includes counseling and leading sessions with regards to business strategy, team effectiveness, prioritization, team alignment, culture change, etc.
Building Organizational Development Capability:
Partner with the Global OD CoE in building internal OD capability for the US General Medicines in areas which include organizational design, facilitation, change management, workforce planning, team effectiveness.
Lead, design, develop (or in-license), pilot and monitor organization-wide OD approaches and initiatives linked to business strategy.
Project Leadership Lead highly complex projects and initiatives (e.g. with numerous work streams) with both internal resources and/or with external vendors to provide Organizational Consulting, OD practices and solutions
Organizational Structure Design: Provide design and implementation expertise in the design of internal structures to support product launches and general organizational structure enhancements across the organization. This includes leading work such as RACI, role profile clarity, and process/system optimization to support our structure.
Workforce Planning: Design and implement a workforce planning strategy linked to the US General Medicine strategic plans.
Change Management: Provide enterprise change management expertise, counsel and tools to enable leadership to effectively navigate through the business changes. This includes designing change management plans and tools to support internal change initiatives and partnering with the EC and key stakeholders in effectively managing the change implications.
Culture Transformation: Work with the company s Top Leaders to embed a culture that reflects Novartis values, high performance, productivity and collaboration in a specialty and primary care setting. This includes integrating global cultural initiatives with local culture needs into an integrated strategy and plan.
Business OD Interventions: Partner with business leaders in leading key business interventions which could include team interventions, new leader assimilations, facilitating business strategy and team building sessions and counseling on how to drive change within intact teams.
Engagement Survey: Lead global engagement survey work at the local level, drive action planning and measure results.

Masters or Ph.D. in I/O Psychology, Organization Development or in a related discipline a plus but not required
Minimum 15 years of OD experience
Experience working with c-suite executives in leading OD strategy
Experience designing large-scale OD initiatives
Experience driving culture change and change management linked to business strategy
Experience creating and delivering innovative approaches and solutions to enable business success
Organization structure design
Workforce planning experience
Global experience in OD
Experience with Landmark Education Programs
HR Business Partner experience
