The East will cover the following areas: New Jersey, Detroit, Boston, New York, Pittsburgh, Washington, Atlanta, Miami.
Reporting to Director, Professional Relations, Rheum, the Associate Director of Professional Relations is responsible for building relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and other key stakeholders in [dermatology or rheumatology] in assigned geography. Increases support for and appropriate use of Novartis products through KOL advocacy development and implementation of peer influence programs. Responsible for compliantly liaising with Medical Affairs, R&D, Market Access, Patient Specialty Services (PSS), Sales and Marketing to develop and communicate high quality market support data consistent with product strategy and messaging. Manages key customer relationships and compliantly builds advocacy with KOLs, HCP organizations and patient advocacy groups in collaboration with the Novartis Advocacy team. Acting as a central point of contact for covered KOLs in assigned geography in a manner compliant with all Novartis policies and procedures, including those regarding appropriate Medical / Commercial interactions.
1. Professional Relations/KOL Management (40%)
Creates regional KOL plans in coordination with national plans, and regional strategic, marketing and sales business plans.
Liaise with sales and in-line marketing to ensure KOL concerns/needs are addressed in a timely and thorough manner; and in response to KOL questions or requests, connect the KOL to the appropriate Medical Affairs or R&D associate.
Leads the KOL marketing message content delivery and execution in relevant forums, in coordination with MAP, Marketing and PSS teams.
Gather customer insights from KOLs at major US [dermatology or rheumatology] meetings to drive development of new strategies and opportunities.
2. KOL Tactical Programs (20%)
Collaborates with Marketing Teams on KOL tactical programs that include speaker training programs and contribute to implementation of a US Speakers Forum.
3. Key Account Relations (15%)
Develops KOL relationships and leverages relationships in assigned geography in [dermatology or rheumatology] in order to establish Novartis as a leading company within these specialties and therapeutic areas.
Collaborates closely with the Novartis advocacy team to develop relationships with key physician and patient organizations
Initiates and pursues opportunities to involve Novartis in meaningful programs with KOLs to ensure Novartis is strategically and strongly positioned in the [dermatology or rheumatology] markets in assigned geography
4. Compliance (10%)
Ensure alignment to and ownership of NPC policies including Code of Conduct and all applicable laws and regulations
Works to ensure a diverse and inclusive environment free from all forms of discrimination and harassment.
4. Maintains current scientific knowledge (10%)
Seeks out information from medical and scientific literature, scientific meetings, symposia, and seminars that differentiates Novartis products from the competition
Works with Sales, Marketing, R&D, Medical Affairs, Business Development and other functional areas to ensure a contemporary view of key market trends impacting the business is integrated into overall planning
5. Manages operation plan annual budget (5%)
Manages the implementation and budget of programs, from initiation to completion, on time, within budget and on strategy

Sales growth, volume, and market share growth of current brands in assigned region/territory
Development and implementation of effective regional strategy
Products launch success metrics
Maintain & grow customer satisfaction, including reimbursement process, through extraordinary service

BA/BS Required; Advanced degree preferred
Fluent English (written and spoken), additional languages are desirable and an asset.
Minimum 8 years of pharmaceutical sales experience (any combination of the following):
- Sales specialist/account manager
- Sales training (formal role or training responsibilities within current role)
- Area Business Leader
Experience of managing a team is preferred
Experience with biologics preferred
Presentation and platform skills, plus ability to communicate/facilitate group interactions with audiences ranging from field associates to senior leadership
Strong Communication (oral/written) & Interpersonal skills including peer coaching and influence
Understanding of Cosentyx Brand strategy and tactics
Demonstrated expertise in the sales competencies Strong clinical acumen with agility to learn multiple disease states/products
Current relationships with KOL s in the specialty
Knowledge of field/sales force (key client knowledge)
Administrative management skills - planning, organization, operational decision making and analysis.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects and be accountable for individual & department results
Ability to build relationships, collaborate and influence across a matrix organization
Demonstrated experience in working with others to achieve organizational objectives including the ability to anticipate and adapt, own and or/work group tactics to support changing business needs
