The purpose of the External Medical Strategy Director is to:
Provide strategic input and facilitate execution of Medical Expert Engagement Strategy with identified medical experts and Academic Medical Centers to best fit the strategic objective(s) of the organization, drive innovation and support increased collaboration
Develop professional relationships with Health care professionals in order to enhance medical expert engagements and support engagements of the Medical team
Proactively identify new ways to work with customers, define new ways to leverage Novartis resources to serve customer needs
Support Medical Affairs activities at congresses as a key point of contact for Congress planning and support Medical team to optimize customer engagements
Co-development of strategies, together with Field Medical and Medical Directors, to engage Medical Experts (ME) in appropriate healthcare fields, academia and professional organizations
Work with Medical team to clearly define Medical Unit engagement goals, driven by specific scientific or business objectives
Lead the identification of key Medical Experts and develop profiles for identified key Medical Experts to ensure optimal engagement
Develop Medical individualized expert engagement plans for identified key Medical Experts across multiple engagement activities
Develop and execute tactics to understand individual and group medical expert needs through external outreach
Identify innovative methods to enhance and maintain Medical engagements
Act as primary internal contact for identified MU Medical Experts ensuring timely and professional responses to all inquiries
Develop professional relationships with Medical experts and congress/societies to enhance and support medical expert engagements of Medical team
Develop and implement top Academic Medical Center engagement plan, endorsed by the MU team
Support coordination of ME engagements for Medical Unit at Congresses
Support development of digital and non-digital medical communications plan
Collaborate compliantly with Commercial colleagues to enhance customer experience and engagement
Lead or support special projects in the Medical Unit
Participate in IPT and MTT meetings as appropriate

Bachelor's degree required (Master s Degree or higher preferred)
Fluent in English
Minimum 10 years industry or academic experience
Experience in Rheumatology community preferred
Demonstrated strategic, analytical and conceptual ability enabling strong issue-identification and problem solving
Experience working across multi-disciplinary teams
Strong communication and influence skills with senior management
Demonstrated ability to work with external medical stakeholders
Ability to manage multiple priorities and a heavy workload
