The Data Strategy Manager is accountable for all aspects of organizational data for Patient & Specialty Services – including data acquisition (from Syndicated data vendors, Specialty Pharmacy, Specialty Distributors & Internal Novartis data), data strategy & provisioning (working with IT team, Data Aggregator, Analytics, Sales & Marketing Operations teams) and Data governance (leading data council for their respective focus area, data training, communication). The objective to align with Novartis & Brand objectives and business needs by ensuring access to complete, accurate & timely data. This position is the pivotal role in problem solving and driving to a resolution for any data-related issues and decisions supporting Patient & Specialty Services.

Major Activities

Single Point of Contact for assigned brand(s) to all stakeholders ensuring release of high quality data

• Understands business priorities/challenges and translates into data QC needs and data performance metrics

• Defines & maintains business rules to ensure high data quality for downstream utilization

• Manage communications to key stakeholders inside the organization as it relates to data relevant for the assigned brands

• Responsible for ongoing acquisition and maintenance of business data – including SP data, syndicated data and internal Novartis data

• Regularly interacts with external and internal data providers to ensure high standard of data – timely, accurate & complete

• Rapidly problem solves and resolves data issues for assigned brands as needed, working closely with IT, DS&E, Analytics, Sales & Marketing, Finance, Managed Markets, Market Access operations teams

• Defines data quality metrics and utilizes reports and dashboards to monitor quality and enforce SLAs and data agreements

• Ensures smooth maintenance of external data (syndicated and SP), solving the day to day issues

• Collaborate with peer Data Strategy Managers to ensure consistent understanding and communication of common source issues (SP, HUB, 3rd Party Data)

• Leads a Data council sub-team to consolidate and collaborate across various functions that utilize data – defining strategy, conducting an inventory, identifying and managing ongoing needs

Minimum Requirements


Bachelor’s Degree in relevant area, MBA Preferred


Fluent in English (oral and written)


Must have:

• 3-5 years Specialty pharmaceutical industry or related field

• Strong communication skills and ability to translate technical information into business relevant information

• Strong business knowledge and mindset to provide guidance on how data can be applied to answer business questions

o Understanding of how data is used for analytics & reporting

• Vendor management skills to enforce SLAs based on data quality performance

• Strong problem solving & project management skills


• Deep understanding of specialty brand data (i. e. data from HUB services, Specialty Pharmacies, Syndicated vendors, internal data etc.)

• Strong understanding of data warehouse and master data architecture and processes

• Prior experience in Business roles, both Sales & Marketing highly desirable

• Ability to interface with and influence senior business leaders
