Your hard work has paid off; you've secured a new challenge and our well on you're way in your new career. Congratulations, your journey to career fulfillment is now complete, or is it?

At work, changes come from every direction. For instance, you can't assume you will have the same congenial boss a year from now. In fact, you can't even assume that the values and culture of the company will be the same in two years.

You, too, change as you grow and have a different outlook. Your needs change, and your job conditions change, A search for the "one job of your life" is a dead-end mission, because no job is "the" job through 10 or 20 years of change.

We've pulled together an activity list to help with your continual quest of Career Fulfillment.

  • Keep your resume updated
  • Remain active in professional organizations
  • Keep search firms updated
  • Constantly revise your targeted list of companies
  • Develop short and long term goals
  • Maintain your understanding of trends and pressure points in your field
  • Keep abreast of computer technology
  • Strengthen communication with individuals at all levels in your organization
  • Develop a fairly sophisticated understanding of some other aspect of your organization's work which might be related to your own
  • Never stop updating your network list and keep your network energized
  • Consider working toward an advanced degree or certification


Remember, fulfillment is a dynamic, ongoing process of growth. It requires continual assessing, planning, guiding and nurturing.
